I have translated TK's interview in Thailand. Of course, only TK's part. www.siamzone.com/movie/news/index.php?id=2813“Talk to Takeshi Kaneshiro, Peter Chan and Ji Jin-Hee from Perhaps Love” Q: Is this your first time in Thailand? TK: No, but this is the first movie promotion in Thailand. This is the 5th time here, still don’t quite get it. But I love Thai food. Q: About your work with other actors in this movie TK: For Jin-Hee, I didn’t get to be in the scene with him and had to use the translator so mostly just say Hi. During the promotion, we have chance to talk more after interview. I’m fan of Jacky Cheung myself. So, I’m so glad to have chance to work with him. For Zhou Xun, she’s very kind. It was my 1st time in Bejing when we filmed this movie, she took me around Bejing. About working with her, she is very good actress and hard working. She made my job a lot easier. Q: What do you think about her character is more stand out than yours? TK: I agree because her character was in love with 2 men and before Sun Na could become the main actress she had to go thru a lot of thing. But my character was to be in love with her for long time. I think she’s very good and has the main character in this movie.

Q: You were very good in the crying under the water scene. What was in your mind during the shooting of that scene?
TK: Thank you very much. It’s not just me. It’s a lot of other things such as camera’s angle and light that make this scene come out very nice. But I’m glad that a lot of people talking about this scene.
I didn’t have to prepare that much before shooting because I like to swim and the director let me acted freely. The only thing was the water in the pool was so dirty when I open my eyes under the water I could see all the crews had their shoes on. During the shooting, I was thinking about the line so much and I forgot I was under the water and almost out of breath.
Q: What’s the different between Wong Kar Wei, Zhang Yimou and Peter Chan?
TK: Every actor is different, each director is different as well. It’s hard to compare the directors even if they’re from the same country.
Wong Kar Wei doesn’t have script. It’s very challenge to work with him. At the time, I was new in the business, so I liked it because I’ve learn a lot. For Zhang Yimou, he would explain how the character should be in the movie. With Zhang Yimou, it was the period movie and I didn’t have a lot of experience in that kind of movie. I had to ask him to show me and he did. It’s very helpful.
Peter Chan would explain all the aspect of each character and listen to the actor opinion. I’m very lucky to have chance to work with Peter. He’s not just very famous in Hong Kong and Asia but he also listen to the actors opinion. I feel very thrill to work with him. Q: How do you feel about your character in this movie?
TK: Lin Jian-dong is very similar to me and our age is also close, so I have a pretty good understand of him. As far as the opinion for love, it’s very different for the love when we’re young and when we get older. We would do everything for love when we’re young. If we look back 10 years with more experience in life, we would see the bigger picture, know how to forgive and want the one we love to be happy. This part is very similar to me. And Peter did very good job of showing young Lin’s love and older Lin’s love in the movie.
Q: What does make this movie interesting?
TK: I want everyone who see this movie get to understand the feeling of Lin and learn how to forgive.
Q: If Thai director call you, do you interesting?
TK: With my past working experience in Thailand, even it’s not Thai director but I can see that Thai crews have very good skill. I sometime surf internet to see Thai ads, I feel it’s full of good idea and skill. I hope to have chance to work with Thai people

Feel very weird, translating this interview. I think this interview was in mandarin thru translator. Some of the them did not make sense to me either. I have not seen Perhaps Love yet, have problem getting the DVD with subtitle. I have the copy w/o subtitle somewhere on my desk but my mandarin is not good enough to see it w/o subtitle. It probably help a bit if I have.
