I think this movie might be in the wrong "place." These threads are for movies that have Takeshi in them, but he's not in "Hero." It might be better suited under the Chinese section.

I watched the movie, yet I don't know what to say about it. Maybe bcos it's just like any other typical kung-fu movies. My brother enjoyed the kicking and flying. I just enjoyed his face.

I saw 'Hero'==the one starring Takeshi. Actually, the story isn't bad at all. It tells about the struggle of 2 poor brothers who try to make it in the big city but ends up getting involved with mostly unsavory characters due to the younger brother's (Takeshi) wish to get rich and powerful in the quickest way possible. I think the role TK plays is a character with a lot of angst and ambition. Although he shows a softer side due to his love interest, the charcter shift from nice guy to not-so-nice guy is mercurial at best--there is some trouble with the continuity of this movie. I don't know if it's just the version I saw--probably got edited to death due to some violent graphic scenes. One other problem I had was that the actor playing the older brother of TK in the film--for those of you who has seen this movie would know what I'm talking about. I mean, we're talking 'night' and 'day' here The rest of the cast were pretty good, though.
But, bottom line is--our # 1 heartthrob is in it and it makes up a whole lot for what the show lacks.
If you consider yourself a true-blue TK fan--get to see this movie despite the bad dubbing, awful English subs, and bad editing.

I just got this movie in the mail today and watched it earlier - it is a crazzzzy flick. TK did look good and he was a bad ass too, but the rest was hilariously funny.

You should watch it at least once to say you did. It's like the Shaw Bros movies from the 70's. Crazy sound effects when they are fighting, talking really fast - looking as if it has been dubbed, choppy editing as I said it is a "crazzzzy flick". It you can watch the whole thing I would be interested in your comments. Happy viewing.

Great take on this movie Windysgirl!! When I saw it I had flashbacks of me and my brother watching martial arts movies on Saturday afternoon. One of my best childhood memories!

Saw this film last night and found it atrocious - really over the top with actors chewing the scenery, caricatures, absurd fight sequences, horrific dubbing (TK's voice isn't used in Mandarin or Cantonese) etc. Was it supposed to be a comedy or drama? Nonetheless, I watched it till the end - like watching a train wreck as it happens! Sorry.

I watched this more than once... i didnt notice the bad editing and poor sound effects... as long as TK's in it, it's all good... he looked so awesome in white suit and playing the drums... and i loved the part when he was fighting with a sword (he did well).
