about the "how" - I made it in Photoshop.....using some practical advice from my brother. Was doing logo for his site and decided to expiriment with TK.)))))))

the new ones are lovely! =D i love the "i love you" in japanese on the second one - so cute ^_^

if you want to branch out, try cropping the pictures a little further out from takeshi, with a feathered edge. you can blend similar backgrounds into each other using another background, such as a garden, to smooth the edges. that way you don't always have to have a flat black background, for example. (just an idea, please don't be offended. i think you're going great so far!

wow! you've progressed loads! the heart one is really nice.

your hofd bamboo ones are awesome, they remind me of a wallpaper i made with those promotional images of mei and jin. and that last one looks very exciting. keep aiming high and you'll get better and better. the last one has a great composition - maybe next time try for a bit more clarity? or something. i'm not an even pretending to be half an expert, just giving friendly advice, feel free to ignore it can't wait to see more!!
