Speaking of Korean Movies. I just saw 'Untold Scandal' starring Bae Yong Jun. It's beautifully done-- as far as depicting Korea in the 1700s. Lovely costumes, sets and scenery! If you are familiar with the movie 'Dangerous Liaisons' with Glenn Close, Michele Pfeiffer, and John Malkovich--this is a wonderful Asian interpretation of Christopher Hampton's book--'Les Liaisons Dangereuses'. And frankly speaking--I'd take Korean actor Bae Yong Jun over John Malkovich any day!! Ha! ha! --The Hollywood Version --The Asian Version --one of the movie posters

Hi Jadedragon, I too loved Dangerous Liaisons and would love to see Untold Scandal. I looked for it on my on-line Blockbusters but no luck. Sometimes they list the movie in their original title/language. JD, do you know this movie's title in Korean?? Thanks.
Thanks for the pics!!

Thanks, Swellboy, for your kind words regarding the movie pics. I Googled them from various movie review sites. Hello, Tatiana! Regarding 'Untold Scandal'--hmm-mm. Have you tried the Blockbuster movie rental places? That's where I rented mine--and after seeing the film--decided that I wanted my own copy. If you are looking for nicely priced Asian films--either in VCD or DVD--I understand that Amazon.com or Yesasia.com carries quite a bit in their inventory.

Thank you Jadedragon- I'll try the Blockbusters store. I had tried blockbusters on-line service with no luck! (You know they boast 30.000 films!). I'll continue to search- thanks again!

Since this section is for Korean movies and dramas I think I'll recommend a title. I just finished watching Guns And Talks last night. It has Won Bin in it and also the guy from the movie Bichunmoo. I bought this movie on a blind buy without knowing what it's about but I really enjoyed it. It is hilarious. www.kfccinema.com/reviews/comedy/gunstalks/gunstalks.html

Did you all watched OLDBOY? It's such a great movie! And, also, SPRING, SUMMER, FALL, WINTER AND SPRING. The first one is about vengeance, the other talks about hope. Two great movies!

A few years back, I rented this Korean movie called 301, 302, and I was wondering if anyone had seen it. Here's a link to it that I found... www.imdb.com/title/tt0112257/Here's a summary of the movie that's found on that website: A chef and an anorexic writer are neighbors in an apartment building. The chef (301) tries to entice her neighbor to eat with fabulous meals. The writer (302) refuses to eat, and this refusal begins a turbulent relationship that forces both women to delve into their pasts of torment.

Hey Glaucia. I watched Oldboy and SPRING, SUMMER, FALL, WINTER AND SPRINg. Those are two awesome movies.
Korean cinema has gotten really good. They make great movies.
They're so good that I stopped buying American/Hollywood made movies...well I didnt really stop buying them, I just dont buy them that often anymore. I buy mostly Korean movies now.
I ordered 3-Iron (limited edition version). Never seen it but heard it was a good artsy movie. Someone in this forum recommended this movie.
Korean movies I like:
1. Oldboy 2. A Tale of Two Sisters (loved the soundtrack) 3. Taegukgi a.k.a Brotherhood of War 4. Once Upon a Time In High School a.k.a Legend of Jeet Kune Do 5. Friend 6. My Sassy Girl 7. Il Mare (I love the main song "Must Say Goodbye") 8. Windstruck (good soundtrack) 9. Musa: The Warrior 10. Guns And Talks 11. Bichunmoo 12. Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring
Korean Movies that I think are ok, not great but ok
1. Yesterday 2. 2009 Lost Memories 3. Conduct Zero a.k.a Manner Zero 4. Arahan 5. Volcano High 6. Tube 7. Sword In The Moon

I like your list, Samanosuke . I've seen most of what is on there (with the exception of Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring, and Oldboy, which I'm dying to see) and I've gotta admit that those movies are worth mentioning. Anyway, I agree with what you said about how the Korean cinema has improved. After watching so many Hollywood movies, I, too, jumped ship to Asian movies. Apart from Korea, Japan and China also have some great cinema . BTW, did you hear the rumor that's been going around about an American version of Oldboy and My Sassy Girl going into production?

Hey girlwonder! Yup I've heard rumors about the American remakes and they seem to be true. IMDB.com is a good way of checking to see if these rumors are true. Quite a few movies that have been shown US theaters are remakes of Asian films. I guess Hollywood is running out of original ideas so they steal from Asia.
One reason why I don't like remakes of Asian movies is that the original will probably not get the recognition that it deserves. Anyway, My Sassy Girl and Oldboy are great the way they are so why make remakes.
Hollywood....BAH!!!!!!
Oh yea.. finished watching some more Korean movies that I would like to recommend.
3 Iron (The main character doesn't speak a work) Ghost House (I really like this movie. Nice little comedy)

By the way, ther is a movie in ur list that is being remade --- Il Mare --- the title is now "The Lake House" with Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock --- due for release sometime in 2006, i can't wait to see them both back on the big screen (i loved Speed)... By the way, hav u watched "Natural City"? The other guy in Oldboy is the lead character (i can't remember his name.. LOL)... it's a scifi sort of movie but i enjoyed it..

I haven't seen Natural City yet but i have heard of it. I really love Korean cinema and I'm trying to buy as many Korean movies as I can. I'll get to Natural City sooner or later. The latest Korean movie I've seen was Addicted (Jungdok). Saw it on New Years. I like the twist that this movie has. The star is Byung-hun Lee here is a cool bit of info. They modeled a video game character after him just like how they modeled Samanosuke Akechi after Takeshi. here is the real actor and here is the video game version of him.
