I don't like this movie, it's lame and boring, and there is no chemistry between the two main character. I supposed it'll be a good one judging by the synopsis, and of course Takeshi's hotness! but then I was wrong, I found this to my dissapointment.
But it's always worth it to see Takeshi's cute expression in the movie. And I like Takeshi in the end of the movie. Micheal Angelo is extremely CUTE!!!!

This was one of those times when TK's leading lady didn't perfom to the same standard as he did and I think that's one of the reasons the film suffered. It's like there's zero on screen chemistry between him and Kelly, but for some reason they kept pairing these two together! It wasn't the worst TK film I've seen, and I rewatch some of the scenes every now and again. Thank goodness for DVD technology that allows me to fast forward through the parts I don't really want to see again.

It's like there's zero on screen chemistry between him and Kelly, but for some reason they kept pairing these two together! The following excerpts may explain the lack of chemistry: Source : HK ENTERTAINMENT NEWS IN REVIEW Date : 6 Dec. 1999 Kelly Chen Wai-Lam .... admits that she wants to have a relationship and regrets that no one is wooing her... As for what she wants in a man, she has three conditions. First, he must be taller than her by two or three inches. Second, he must know a little English and Japanese along with Chinese. (When reporters asked, "how about Takeshi Kaneshiro?" Kelly Chen scrunched up her face.) ... Date: June 18, 2000 TOUCH TAKESHI'S BUTT? NO, THANKS THE screen coupling of gorgeous Kelly Chen and equally-gorgeous Takeshi Kaneshiro has been so picture-perfect that they will once again play lovers. After tugging at the heart strings in romantic movies such as Lost And Found and Anna Magdalena, the two will go hot and heavy in another romantic caper, Xiang Xun Cao (Fragrance Grass). Chen will put those manicured hands to good use, playing a masseuse. And to get it right, she will train under a professional. There will be scenes of her kneading Takeshi's well-toned body. However, she refused to touch his buttocks, even though the director said that it would add realism to the touchy-feely scenes. Well, we know of quite a few women who would gladly volunteer to take her place, just for a chance to pinch that butt.

WHAT IS SHE CRAZY!!!!! Someone must think she and TK have good chemistry together to keep pairing them up in films and choosy TK keeps accepting these roles. What does that mean? Do you think he feels that they are good together?

what?! Kelly Chan is quite obviously mad.. scrunching up her face at the thought of the delectable TK in a romantic sense? Saying no to 'kneading his well-toned body' and his (doubtless) scrumptious 'buttocks'...( ) I'm totally bemused!..Bit lost for words thinking about that actually! Then again, i suppose not every girl can like the same guy (cos that just wouldn't work!) Still..man, i just melt at even the PROSPECT of being able to 'knead' his 'well toned' bod myself Yum Despite what most other folks seem to have thought of this movie, i actually really liked it. I mean it wasn't a Great film that will become a landmark in cinematic history or anything, but i thought it was well photographed, sweet, engaging and at points, very tender. Granted, there were some silly parts that were abit much, but there were also one or two genuinely funny moments (such as the scene in which TK tries to make dinner and then change a lightbulb with a halfed apple wedged in his armpits..nice! ) I agree that there was a lack of that on-screen 'explosive' chemistry between TK and Kelly Chan and that, for the most part TK appeared more naive and sweet, slightly lost-looking even childlike at points than sexy or, well for want of a better word 'phwoaar!' (but wasn't that the point? His character was a naive, curious and compassionate angel fallen to earth..hmm) All in all, i thought this was quite a delightful movie - for the rom-com that it is, with a likeable soundtrack, a good feeling to it... .. and you get to see TK in the bath !! i mean, what more could you ask for? hehe And yeh, the pole dancing was quite chucklesome - i almost choked on my morning bowl of cereal when i first saw TK swinging, torso glistening round that pole!! oh lordy - that man!

Yes ElfinAniki! I am so relieved that someone admits they like this movie. I think it has it merits ,just as you pointed out. I too thought this movie was fun and endearing. Yes, Kelly Chan does NOT bring anything to this movie , nor is there any chemistry b/ them. ( Is she nuts??? How can she not react to Tk?) And there some great scenes int his movie like.. the pole dancing and when he finally finds his shoes ( the look on his face is priceless!)...or his face when she thinks he is dead and he first wakes up after she kisses him... This angel can fall thru my roof any day- I'm a nurse and would be more than willing to nurse his broken wing ( and anything else) back to health...hehe

I enjoyed Lavender a lot. Kelly Chan is ok. Her face is always stiff. Every movie I've seen her in, she always have the same stiff face....so I guess I got used to that and it didn't ruin the movie for me.

Takeshi makes a perfect angel, doen't he?? As, ElfinAniki said--'he can fall through my roof, anytime!' This movie could have been better if Takeshi and Kelly had more chemistry. I really don't know why this actress has the same facial expressions in each movie that I've seen her in. Such a dead-pan look to her face! It's too bad--because, she is a pretty lady. The most moving part for me--which brought a lump to my throat--was when he was walking all over town looking for those shoes!--deep into the night, and through the rain! But, of course--the smile he had when he found the shoes--was simply---priceless!

Hey jadedragon, you like the part where he was looking for his shoes too? I really like that part because it reminds me of my shoes. I have a pair of boots that's all worn out and ripped but I love them. So that part of the movie got me all choked up too. Hehehehe

Well, we know of quite a few women who would gladly volunteer to take her place, just for a chance to pinch that butt. And some men too, such as yours truly right here! I've wanted to see LAVENDAR, despite all the bad reviews I've read about it, 'cause I imagine TK looks and plays the part of an angel wonderfully (and this seems to indeed be the case from the little preview I saw of the movie). Someday, I will see it-- that and so many other films I intend to track down and watch...someday. The scene mentioned in which TK's character looks about for his boots and finally finds them sounds very touching. *Sniff*

Hey Swellboy! This is a definite must see regardless of the reviews. Yeah, it's not the best TK movie out there, but he has some moments in this movie that are not to be missed. The scene where he's looking for his boots almost had me in TEARS, and I'm not the "crying during movies" type at all. I got my copy of the movie without any problem at YesAsia.com. The version I bought can be played in all regions, so you don't need a region free DVD player to view.

Hi Swellboy - I also wanted to let you know another source for TK's movies. I got all 5 of mine from HKFlix.com. They are in Oakland, CA and ship all over the world. Just make sure you select "all region" versions - unless you have an all region player.

Does anyone know the name of the song that plays at the end when the credits are rolling?

I just got the DVD a few days ago and I kinda liked it. Although for the life of me, I don't know why Kelly and Takeshi-san are constantly paired up (this is the third film they starred together right?) when there's NO chemistry. The articles SamIam posted were amusing though I was laughing out loud about how she refused to touch his butt in the massage scene and couldn't help yelling out loud, "What? Have you lost your blessed mind woman?! It's Takeshi-san for crying out loud!" LOLOL... Some fav scenes of mine: the pole dancing (note: for those who haven't seen this movie, DO NOT eat or drink anything...you'll find out why soon enough) alternated between laughing and screeching. ;D, the infamous apple under the pits scene, him demonstrating to Athena how he got money to buy all those shoes (gotta wonder how many takes they had to do since I'm sure he if not cast must've cracked up on how to shake yo booty), finding his lost shoes (ahhh, that smile) and the childlike innocence he portrays in both how the ladies at the aromatherapy class are waiting to undress him and the bathtub scene.
