FALLEN ANGELS is a complex movie. It deals with life, solitude and how to find a little warmth moment in the middle of a crazy existence. Takeshi's role is such a sad person, although he said how happy he was. Sad, because he had someone (his father) but lost him. In fact, I am still trying to cope the experience of watching this movie. A wonderfull and human movie. I love Wong Kar - Wai!

I agree with you about Fallen Angels. It is a well done movie in every way. The music, acting and cinematography are top-notch. Takeshi's character is so sad. He really doesn't have contact with anyone and even the girl he had hung out with acts like she doesn't know him when she comes back. His life must be so isolated. He can't speak and I wonder if he can even read or write. If he could you would see him doing it. Now that his father is gone, it must be very hard to communicate with anyone. He really has become a non-person. Toward the end he tries to cut off the finger of one of his customers. Then he gets in a fight. Does he feel that this is the only way he can get human contact? It effected me too.

I finally watched my Fallen Angels dvd. Takeshi is soooo funny doing those odd jobs, however, I felt sad for how his life is.
Anyway, Those in this forum who are familiar with me will know that I am a dvd freak. So here goes the ranting.
Korean Version (Daum Media) Region 0 I have the sucky Daum Media dvd version. It does not have the original soundtrack/language. The picture quality is horrible and it is somewhat distorted. Subtitles are acceptible but not perfect. The disc does not include any extras.
American Version (Kino/Image) Region 1 This version is better but not much. No extras but it does contain the original dialogue soundtrack.
Australian Version (Accent) Region 4 Now this is the dvd version to get. The image quality is top notch and it has been remastered. Includes original soundtrack and some minor extras. I am trying to buy this version but it is hard to find. The only place I can find it is on Australia's Ebay. None of those sellers will ship to the USA. I am heartbroken.

Yay I just found a place in Australia that will ship to the US but it is mighty expensive. www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/228273Click this link to see a comparison of the image quality. You can clearly see that the Australian version is superb. www.dvdbeaver.com/film/DVDCompare5/fallenangels.htmdid I mention that Fallen Angels is GREAT!?!?!?! GOSH I'm so mad that I don't have the Australian version. Does anyone here have that version? OHHHH I feel so incomplete with an inferior dvd version of Fallen Angels. It does not do Takeshi justice! I'm going to go cry like a little girl.

What a bummer you can't get that dvd from the Aussies! It has a lot more than mine does. (and costs a lot more, too!) I don't have the booklet, the trailers or any extras. Though, the picture, audio dubbing and subs are all excellent. I wish you luck in finding a good copy!
And yes, this is an excellent film! I agree that it shows true talent on Takeshi's part being able to portray a mute. His performance is bon excellence! I think the concept of his character is absolutely genius!

I think ezydvd is a new dvd outlet here in Australia... i didnt even notice til Samanosuke posted the website... thanks Samanosuke (there's a half price promo for pre-ordering a copy of HOFD dvd --- only at approx $22 aussie dollars which will equate to $17 US, it's a 2-disc set with lots of extras and free shipping anywhere in Australia... he he).. thanks again.
By the way, Samanosuke, how much do ezydvd charge for shipping cost to the US?

Hey aussiefan you're welcome!! You're lucky you get free shipping. I think shipping to America for 1 dvd is $5.50 aussi dollars. Using the currency converter provided by ezydvd.co.au that amount comes out to $4.15 american dollars. Not bad.
If I buy Fallen Angels from ezydvd the total would cost me around $30 US dollars. Pretty expensive for only one dvd. I don't mind spending $50 to $100 for limited edition dvds but for one normal dvd.....30 dollars is a lot. But then again it's TAKESHI!!!!
I would like to buy it but I can't right now. I ordered $120 worth of movies from The UK and still haven't received them yet. I also ordered 2 limited edition movies from some guy off of Kfccinema.com and haven't received those yet either. To make things worse, I ordered a pair of samurai Hakama pants for $60 off ebay and was supposed to get it on Monday but it got lost in the mail. So yeah........... I am pretty upset. I'm too nervous now to order anymore movies online.
I'm going to go cry.

Gah, this was the movie that made me fall in love with him. Absolutely loved the hilariously adorable character he portrayed. I personally don't think any other movie he's been in compares.

Konnichiwa, I agree - it's an awesome movie, and Take plays his character very well. Have you guys checked out the deleted scenes on YouTube? They're not on my dvd Do any of you know where I could get the dvd with the deleted scenes Douzo, [glow=red,2,300]M[/glow] btw, does anybody know what the name of the song Take is lipsynching to (while he's taping himself in front of the tv) - I have the "Fallen Angels" soundtrack, but it's in chinese. I'd really love to know the name and get the lyrics. Sewaninaru.......

Thnx for the links sreyda!! It's a shame they cut out the deleted scenes with Michelle and Takeshi-san. Takeshi-san does have a natural knack for comedies as the director said
