It was a great movie to see Takeshi and Tony in; they were both great in their parts. I didn't care for the female leads. I thought Shi Qi's character was silly. My teenage neighbor, who is born in the US of Asian descent, could not understand how a grow woman can be acting like a six year old (her take). Shi Qi's actually a much better actress than this part gave her credit for. In the director's interview, he stated her part was crucial, as she was the one to kinda "save" TK's character. The movie didn't deliver on this.l
I recommend watching the movie in Cantonese if you are fluent. The Mandarin version is good enough, but the slight dialect changes loses some of the impact of the local Hong Kong characters.
If you live in the US, the movie is available in all regions, with Cantonese, Mandarin, Chinese and English subs.

Shi Qi's role was crucial?? OMG, what the heck are these people smoking overseas? Sorry, sorry...I shouldn't be so critical I know. But to say it was crucial and that she "saved" Takeshi-san's character, well, that's really stretching it a bit. Unfortunately, the female lead parts in this movie aren't strong as the male lead parts.

I, too, really want to see this movie! I now have the impression that I can't get a region 1 (USA) or an English subbed version. Am I confused ? (well, Duh! I say to myself) but am I wrong? Can I get a subbed version? On Utube I watched a trailer subbed in english... ???C

**I will reply to my own self...** YES! I purchased an english subbed version of CoP on Ebay! yay! I ROCK!!! kiss kiss kiss Oh, well, anyway...although I read alot of impressions of this flick, I enjoyed it. No, it wasn't the best pic of TK's career, but he was tragically great in it, and I love watching him and Tony L work with each other. No, the big-hair girl wasn't detrimental to the plot, but it was warming to think Bong was able to "move on", and she was pivital for that purpose. ****For my own personal reasons, my favorite scene was when TK (Bong) wakes up on the "Hello-Kitty" pillowcase.*** Don't ask.

glad you got a copy cinxxx. I love the piano score that plays in all the sad scenes in this movie. I wonder if there's sheet music for it?

I don't know why my wanting to get my hands on the music sheet for the piano score makes me cosmo and grown up. I just like to have it since I used to play classical piano for about 17 years.

Finally saw this film a few days ago. The film itself was okay, nothing unheard of from HK's cinema standpoint. But it was definitely enjoyable to see Takeshi playing yet another tragic/antihero character. His female lead was very questionable...she didn't match his character well...very off-balance. Good example of "opposites attract" in this scenario.
