Takeshi Kaneshiro to Star in Japanese Movie 'Accuracy of Death'

Japanese-Taiwanese actor Takeshi Kaneshiro will be seen in his first Japanese film since the patchy sci-fi “Returner” in 2002, but unfortunately it won’t be that mooted Onimusha movie. Instead he’ll be starring in an adaptation of Isaka Kotaro’s novel “Shinigami no Seido” (Accuracy of Death), about a music-loving death god named Chiba who spends seven days with humans to determine whether they’re worthy candidates for the chop. He always wears white gloves, spends his spare time listening to music in CD shops, and has never seen a blue sky because it rains wherever he goes… which makes it sound a lot closer to “City of Angels” than “Death Note”.
Other cast members announced so far are Yakusho Koji’s girlfriend in ‘Retribution’, Manami Konishi (owner of the most unsettling spider-like eyes in Japanese showbiz), Ishida Takuya, Mitsuishi Ken and Terajima Shinobu’s mum, Fuji Sumiko. Directing is Kakehi Masaya, an up-and-comer whose “Canned Beauties” (Bijokan) was one of Jasper Sharp’s faves of 2003. That film’s also worth noting for a rare cameo by “Firefly Dreams” and “Starfish Hotel” director John Williams.
Nippon Television is producing, and Warner Brothers will distribute the flick nationwide in spring 2008.

what a wierd sounding film... but maybe a good role for tk. crikey... tk as the grim reaper huh? that sounds fun. i'l have to watch out ;D

wow the plot sounds interesting.  i hope Chiba won't listen to O-Zone cds or mankind is done. (i'm just kidding, no offense meant to O-Zone fans)and i love the picture, thank you for posting it. |

Only thing I can think of with that screen cap is him cracking a joke that he'll toss her over but he laughs and tells her he won't, but continues to pretend he will and the end result will be:
Her: I CAN'T FLY!!
Him: Of COURSE you can! Just believe in yourself! Flap your arms like this! *flaps away*
Her: Yeah uh no. Umm.. see ya. *leaves*
Him: I AM NOT A LOON!!
Her: Why do you wear those white gloves daily?
Him: Why not? You're just jealous, aren't you?
Her: .. .. that's right.. it's jealousy..
Him: I KNEW IT!! HAHAHAHAHA!!
Her: .. .. seriously, I'm going to go now..
Him: NOOO!! I can change!! I'm not the one saying these things!

Lovetk never stops to astound me with the latest cool pics on Takeshi-san. Arigato! The idea behind the film sounds interesting although without reading the novel it's based on, my first thought was, "Ok, so he's death named Chiba (made me giggle cuz that's a suburb near Tokyo) who after being with humans 24/7 decides who gets the ax or not. And.....what?" I suppose they can't give away all the details but the first thought that popped in my head was, "So it's like Joe Black without the love interest?"  Still, ureshii yo! Takeshi-san wa Nihon no eiga wo tsukuru!! (kewpie-chan dances around like the lil' monsters.) Wow, that means there will be upcoming articles! Please keep me informed if anyone notices any Japanese articles (mags, newspaper, videos) on this. |

and, conforming to the unwritten rule that every tk movie has to change titles at least once, it now seems to be called... god of death from 24framespersecond.com: Warner Bro's Japan to release The God of Death The NTV network and Warner Bro's Japan are joining forces to produce helmer Masaya Kakehi's new project "Shinigami no seido" (literally translated "The God of Death"), a horror fantasy starring Takeshi Kaneshiro (pic left). Kaneshiro plays a Grim Reaper who appears to his victims in human form and spends a week with them before deciding whether to take them. The film is Kaneshiro's first to be shot in Japan since the (OK ish) sci-fi pic "Returners" in 2002. Manani Konishi co-stars as one of Kaneshiro's potential victims. The movie is based on a novel by Kotaro Isaka -- the writer's fifth to be made for the big screen. Release in Japan via Warner Bros, is tipped to be spring 2008. All sounds very ‘Death Note’ esk to us, but we’ll wait and see how it develops.
