Just a thought.
Mr. Gans HAS confirmed that Takeshi will be in the movie but it's still up in the air if it be true.
Keep in mind that how I came to know Takeshi is because of Onimusha. With that, he still became relatively unknown, no matter how many of his films before then were aired here in North America (Asian Film Festivals, International Film Festivals, and such). Even then, if one were to say his name, some people would chime in "oh YES! Score! I know who that is!" but the vast majority of people would be "who?"
Even with the successful release of "House of Flying Daggers" across the globe, if you were to ask a percentage of people who Takeshi is, I bet you'll get "oh, he's that guy in 'House of Flying Daggers'" (or something) and nothing more.
Onimusha: praise like you wouldn't believe. In fact, a LOT of people think that (and I agree with them) Samanosuke Akechi is a BAD ARSE and is considered one of the BEST Sam/Sammy characters in video game history. Even then, many people still haven't a clue that, even though it says at the title screen of the first Onimusha and his name is in the credits, Samanosuke Akechi is modeled after and voiced by Takeshi.
Of course, many international companies know who he is.
Yes, I am well aware that this is long ( x) ).
What I'm getting at, with the upcoming release of Onimusha and him as Sammy (apparently), do you think that this will make him more of a household name? Granted that the movie is based off a video game and many people haven't heard of it.
Do you think that Takeshi Kaneshiro will be more known? Or, do you think that he will just remain huge over in Asia and still be known to people like myself and others here?
Will he remain ours?? x)
