One of the BEST Japanese movies I've seen so far in my life!! The actor who played the dead WWII soldier is really CUUUUUTE!! yeah, he really was cute (a little plain, but i didn't mind--there's all types of good looks!) and did a wonderful job with his performance. i watched the special features on the DVD and they said this was his FIRST acting job!!!! his name is something like "anata"...now i've forgotten, but he goes by just the one name, like madonna or cher. when i was watching it i couldn't help but have a twinge of regret that takeshi isn't taking roles like that. he would have been so good in the role--i also understand he is probably too old for the role, since the soldier is only 22 in the movie. the movie just gets better and better as you watch it. it's full of secrets but you don't realize it for a long time, then the twists start coming on. it was very clever the way they made you think the story was ONLY going to be about the souls that come through for their memories. the movie goes more than half way through before you realize there is more to the main characters than what appears on the surface. really wonderful. oh, i also looooooooved the little old lady who wouldn't talk for the begining but just kept collecting leaves and things from outside. later, she gave her interviewer a bag of flower petals because it was snowing. she was sooooooo adorable. loved her every time she came on the screen.

Cool. I love this kind of sheet. (can i say the "S" word on here?) I don' think you can say the actual "s" word in here. Not sure though. Ask webmaster or read forum rules. But lets keep this place clean anyway. I view this forum as Takeshi's online home and would like it to be a clean happy happy place to be in. Happy! ;D ;D ;D After Life seems like a really good movie. It received very high ratings on IMDB.com. I think I should buy this movie. I am surprised I haven't heard about this movie until now considering how I am such a fan of Asian cinema.

What a beautiful movie! There are so many messages in it about life. It was very endearing and I really enjoyed meeting all the characters. I'd recommend it for sure.

What an endearing and thought-provoking movie ! Though I didn't know any of the actors, they were all excellently cast. I too loved the little old lady who didn't talk much. (I thought she gave the one"guidance counselor" a bag of collected cherry blossom petals because he had mentioned that he loved cherry blossoms too. )I equally loved the old lady with a very kind ,smiling face whose memory was herself as a young girl in a red dress. What a sweet and kind spirit! I don't want to give the story away, but was very touched by the choice of the 22 yr. old guy! Thanks for the recommendation.
