Just a quick question... Gwen Stefani in her latest CD L.A.M.B. sings of the Harajuku Girls....and she seems to really dig them.." You got the wicked style..I like the way you are..I am you're biggest fan." So who or what are Harajuku Girls?? Thanks for any insight you can bestow on me!!

Harajuku Girls eh? sounds like some kind of Sushi. www.takegreatpictures.com/articles/default.asp?aid=1408This site explains what Harajuku Girls are. However, the ones in Gwen Stefani's music video don't dress like real Harajuku Girls. They wear bright colors and makeup whereas real Harajuku girls look darker and more gothic.

I'm always trying to learn new things so I read a lot, especially online. Besides, I love Japanese culture.

Some of those girls look like members from the Japanese Rock band Dir En Grey.

I wonder how the term "gothic" came to mean "wearing dark clothes and black lipstick and looking dead and listening to gloomy music."
If people knew exactly who the Goths were and exactly what gothic was during the Middle Ages, I'm sure they'd change their ways.
As for the 20th and 21st century "goth", I had a two day phase of that.

SAM - Thank you for sharing that info! ..I thought Harajuku girls hung out in underground malls just like what Gwen Stefani says in that song.. Anyhoo, since you (Sam) appear to be the all-knowing, what does that whole 'tortoise' meaning in Anna Magdalena?! I'm truly baffled by it.

Tortoise eh? I must have missed out on that part during the movie. I wasn't paying much attention while watching it (shame on me).
I do know that the movie has something to do with JS Bach's "The Songbook of Anna Magdalena Bach". I read about that somewhere a long time ago before I ordered this movie. I usually read about movies and their history before I buy them.
So tortoise could have something to do with music in this movie..... or it's refering to some stupid turtle. hehehe
I'm baffled too. I'm not all-knowing. I'm just a bored person who likes to stay home and read a lot.
