oh, i found this interview while playing around online. i have never seen it before--i hope it's new for you, too! here i will post just the part of the interview (for HOFD) where andy lau talks about takeshi, then at the bottom i will post the link for the entire interview for those andy lau fans here: Interviewer: What about working with this guy? (pointing at Takeshi Kaneshiro) Andy Lau: He's a handsome guy. I'm scared of handsome guy to work with me. (laughs) You know I'm 10 years older than he is. Interviewer: He better hope he looks as good as you in 10 years. Andy Lau: Oh really? Honestly? (laughs) But but, this guy is he is a singer and was classified as an idol in Taiwan, in Hong Kong in Japan. But the most important thing that moved me, that made me felt touching was that he spent lots of time how to learn the fighting. He wasn't scared to break his face, had lots of cuts in his face. So, I really appreciate that. The first day that I fought with this guy, I felt "Oh! How come he's so good. He is a such a good fighter." So I think he will be very popular in Asia. I wish he will be a superstar in [edit: "around"] the world. entire interview (andy's english is pretty good but a little broken, very cute. i love how he keeps saying "I got no"... such bad grammar but really charming.) www.wowow.co.jp/cv/vol133_2_en.html

yes, isn't it wonderful? i always think it's great when stars can compliment each other, especially man to man. why not? andy lau seems like such a nice man. his smile is really lovely when he's talking in a candid way, as i saw when i rented the DVD of 'infernal affairs' and andy was interviewed for the special features. unlike tony leung who seemed really bored. also i posted in another thread where the guys from SMAP (they have takeshi on in 2002) said takeshi was the guest they most wanted on the show, and they had a number of very nice compliments about him. the best came from kimura who said something like that takeshi can't be labelled or defined (this is something i also find very admirable about takeshi, glad kimura appreciates the same thing!).

there is a "competitive factor" among sexes.. i have many guy friends.. usually this is the case.
almost every guy wouldnt admit that this other guy is more handsome than them... they just shut up to keep from embarassing themselves.
but if that was what andy lau said (a handsome guy himself.. with superstar status i might add)...
what a compliment for takeshi! takeshi should be so pretty, so handsome that even another guy of laus repute just had to say it out loud. thats just wow!

My Japanese pen pal is a guy and he finds Takeshi handsome. how do you go about getting a pen pal?? i would love to have one! it would be good too for someone overseas who wants to practice reading and writing in english...i would probably want someone from japan or hong kong, so we could talk about asian movies and culture.
