TakaMaki, These ads were fun and TK is beautiful as ever (and as always). I especially loved the second ad with him walking and sitting about in such peaceful settings, ending with him getting a massage. Oh, how I'd love to have been that masseuse! (Or is it "masseur" for a guy? I often get those terms mixed up.) Loved the music too! I'm finally doing some catching up on viewing the lovely little media gems of TK that have been posted here on the forum for a while now. Can't ever get too much TK, I say! (Hey, that rhymed, didn't it? LOL!)

takamaki - thank you for posting these, they were a real treat! i agree with Swellboy (hey SB!) on this one, the second one was really cool - lots of luscious shots of TK in beautiful, serene settings looking very comtemplative and pensive (i like it when he's like that!). i also managed to find some other areas of the site with little bits with TK in them (photos, adverts etc) through some random clicking on icons (my japanese is none too good yet so when it comes to Japanese language sites it's pretty much a matter of guessing and light detective work for me!)..yup, you can never have too much TK!

Hi there, ElfinAniki! Isn't it nice and fun to have such similar aesthetic taste-- in men (TK-- ) and otherwise?

Does anyone know what is going on in those commercials. Is the older man supposed to be TK's dad? I didn't understand any of the Japanese. tetsudatte kudasai!

hey lilycat! Welcome to our forum - good to have you on board! I'm afraid my japanese is only in it's infancy, so i didn't understand much of the narrative here. sorry! Although the older guy did look a little bit like this photo of TKs dad that i've seen, i'm not sure if it is..
Hey SB! How's you keeping? yes, definately! It's so great to be able to come together and enjoy beauty and revel in beautiful things..and gazing at beautiful TK is both nice and fun! EA x

For everyone's info--the older man who is seen in all of Takeshi's JAA commercials is a reknowned Japanese comedian/actor--I think-- supposedly a favorite of Takeshi's. I, too, thought he was Takeshi's dad. BTW--Welcome, lilycat! :)This is an awesome forum filled with awesome members and headed by an awesome Webmaster!! Hope to see lots of posts from you!

Thanks! I'm glad I found this. I'm new to forums, so until I found them, I thought that I must be the only Takeshi Kaneshiro/L'Arc-en-Ciel fan in America. It's encouraging to see that Japaense pop culture is getting a foothold in America. It would be nice if it extended beyond manga/anime and remakes of horror movies. It's also amazing to find other people who are learning Japanese for fun. Everyone at work thinks its cool, but odd, that I am teaching myself Japanese. Are many others on here learning to speak it? Okay, I've rambled enough!

jadedragon - thanks for the info on the mysterious guy in the JAA ads - i'll keep an eye out for him! Hey lilycat! i think that the west is definately becoming much more open to Asian pop culture (and Asian culture in general) than it was perhaps in recent years - although as a European i'm not really qualified to say how much of a foothold Japanese culture is taking in the U.S, i can definately vouch for it's happening over here. I really like that it's happening - i find it very encouraging that people are becoming so much more receptive to these different cultures and all the valuable things that they have to teach us. Asian cinema is really opening up globally - and TK is something of a sign of that i think, his fame has exploded since HOFD came out. It's so cool that your learning Japanese! I've been learning for about six months so far (i'm teaching myself too). I too have had various puzzled reactions from people when i tell them this - they think it's kinda random, but cool! How are you finding it? I've found this site very helpful - www.thejapanesepage.com - it's full of tips and advice and even does free weekly lessons, plus it give you the chance to chat with others learning the language. Check it out! EA x

Good morning elfinaniki! I have been studying Japanese on-and-off for a few years, but I have really been working at it regularly for about the last four months. I have a pen pal who lives in Japan. She speaks English very well. So, she teaches me new words and corrects for me. She sent me a book called "Japanese Verb Magic." It's very helpful. It uses pictures related to the words, a mnemonic device to help you remember the verb. Thanks for the web link, I will check it out.

... Hey SB! How's you keeping? yes, definately! It's so great to be able to come together and enjoy beauty and revel in beautiful things..and gazing at beautiful TK is both nice and fun! EA x Hi Elfinaniki! I am keeping well-- not getting pickled, or anything else of that sort. (I'm still too young for that. LOL!) A hearty welcome from me here to you, Lilycat! I must say, I'm impressed with folks here working on learning Japanese. I was never one who had a knack, or the discipline, with learning languages. It feels like plenty of work mastering my own native tongue English, which I notice people (and I'm *not* referring to any of you here) seem to butcher so much. I imagine many Asian peoples feeling that way as well about the use of their native languages. I didn't know what to make of the older man in the JAA commercials with TK, except that it was sort of this fun older man, younger man palsy kind of thing that made for a witty, effective attention-getting device for the ads. Thanks, Jadedragon, for shedding light on who that older man actually is, which makes a lot of sense why he'd be in the ad spots with a famous, handsome young actor such as TK. They make great, entertaining foils for each other. Cheers, Swellboy
