Christopher Doyle is a cool dude ... a cool, white Asian dude. Saw his lastest work recently, a Thai movie called Last Life in the Universe. Very interesting, definitely worth a rental. Sublime humor & delicate beauty at work. He's so right, Asian cinema is leading world cinema at the moment, telling stories with astoundingly beautiful imagery. My only wish is to see an improvement on the plot & dialogue level, minor criticisms really.

haha... his famous "hand-held camera" technique... This guy is probably more Chinese than most Chinese people... he speaks Mandarin perfectly!
True, Hollywood is going downhill. It's copying a lot of Asian films nowadays. I'm not a fan of big-budgeted Hollywood productions. I don't need to see lots of car-bombing, skyscrapers falling down, gun shootings, massive bunch of (CG) people fighting... when was the last time Hollywood told a story by the "heart"?

"The Ring": didn't scare me.
"Ringu": it took me nearly an hour to go downstairs to bed after I finished watching it.
I saw "Ringu" before "The Ring". I was so nit picky about what was in Hollywood's version that wasn't in the original version.

I'm sure a lot of you have heard that Martin Scorese & Leonard diCarpo are remaking "Infernal Affairs." I'm sure U.S. audiences will never realize that it was originally a HK movie that was released in the U.S. for 5 seconds & didn't get any publicity. Ah, the injustice.

I'm sure the U.S. remake will come out with a totally different vibe and atmosphere than the original HK Infernal Affair... the plot maybe very similiar or the same but it's gonna "feel" very different.

They're probably going to put hip-hop music in it or something and have "bullet-time" like they do in The Matrix.

The last american movie with heart I saw was MILLION DOLLAR BABY. I like good movies, and, nowadays, they are almost all from Asia.

Ah, I forgot: Christopher Doyle is a genius. His work for CHUNGKING EXPRESS and FALLEN ANGELS is unbelievable.

First: Mr. Doyle kicks ass on the camera. He can work with anybody and totally make the movie. Chunking and Angels rocked but hell.......look at Hero!
Second: Hollywad is going downhill.....they have run out of material. THough, I do enjoy the big budget stuff.....who else can they portray in a movie?
Third: Hollywad is all about material that's why they can't make a movie with heart. Million Dollar Baby may be made with heart (kudos to Eastwood!) and it won awards but it doesn't compare to the Asian flicks with heart that also have other aspects to them; one being human messages intertwined within them. I always get something more from an Asian flick.....
Fourth: If Hollywad is going to copy or whatever Internal Affairs I won't even take the time to blink at it. I do like Leo but I think re-doing that movie would really take away from the original. The orignal blew me away.
Fifth: I have yet to see a true Japanese or Asian horror flick so I cannot properly comment so I guess I'll have to check that out.... And, I'm ready to be scared sheetless....
Sixth: I hope Asia kicks Hollywad's asski. I was in tinsel town this past year around Oscar time and I thought they put a lot of money and hoo haa into something really small and insignifigant. Did you know that the real Hollywood is only a couple of blocks of space? Yeah, the rest of it is high priced suburban housing.....very disappointing.....it was like 'this is all there is? just the Chinese Theater (way too cool), this mall, a famous hotel and a movie theater?" ......no offense to you Californians, but hell, i was expecting a little more glitz.....especially around Oscar time......I had more fun on Venice beach!
I say let the Asians kick Hollywad's arse and make all the money......in their own country........
So.......that's my two cents......
