I have the sountrack! It's cool. Did you know that Leslie Cheung committed suicide a while ago? (I wanna say about 2 years ago, but I'm not sure exactly when.) So sad. Rest In Peace, Leslie. You are missed. Here's a great tribute to Leslie: www.time.com/time/asia/arts/article/0,9754,440214,00.html

Yeah I think it's almost 2 years now since he took his own life.
Rumors to why he did it:
1. BOYS problem 2. He got AIDS
I walked pass the spot where his dead body lied (outside of Mandarin Hotel in Hong Kong) last summer... at first I didn't realize it but then I saw the "Mandarin Hotel" sign and I was like ohhh... this is where Leslie Cheung died....

He was a legend. But he lives on in his film, forever young and beautiful and outrageously talented. But why jump out of a window of a hotel? What a way to die.

A really great film in which Leslie & Tony appear in is another Wong Kar Wai directed movie called Ashes of Time.
I loved this movie, if you liked Hero, I think you would appreciate this movie. It's beautifully filmed by C. Doyle and has an all star cast. Besides, Leslie & Tony, there's also Brigittee Lin, Tall Tony Leung, Carina Lau (short TOny's girlfriend for a while-they might still be together, Webmaster would probably know) and the incomparable Maggie Cheung.
Standout performances from Ashes are Tony (playing a blind swordsman), Leslie (a dejected lover/swordsman) and Maggie. This is my favorite Maggie Cheung performance. There's a scene where she's talking about her true love, and the sadness that appears in her eyes is so tender & heartbreaking, very good. Can be difficult to follow, not for everyone.

Veronica, it was me who posted that thing about Asian movie stars not being a couple in public, and as far as I know it's really true. Asian people normally don't like to show affection in public. I suppose it's about keeping one's honor and showing respect to others. But it also extends to famous people too ... they don't get touchy feel in public at all. THat's also why most Asian movies don't have a lot skin & sexual scene (at least in the past), that stuff was sort of taboo. Although in the HOFD pics at Cannes, director Zhang, starlet Zhang, TK & Andy did hold hands in some of the pics, I think it was more as a support gesture. It's rather obvious that Asian movies stars hide their love life. It was a huge big secret that Jackie Chan had been married & had children, but we'd never see pics of his family & he probably the biggest Asian star in the world. Andy Lau was another star who dated another movie star, Rosamund Kwan from Once Upon A Time In China fame, for a while. I don't know what ever happened to them. I'm assuming things were broken off. That's why for me, I don't think we'll ever really know about who TK dates or whether he gay or not, because Asian stars guard their private life so well. The ones who do flaunt it, make me think that they do it for publicity or marketing purposes. I think it's harder for famous movie stars to date each other than a movie star & a non famous person. I've seen some pics of CHow Yun Fat & his wife, Jacky Cheung & his wife, so it seems like those are more common. As for Tony & Carina, that's too bad that they broke up. She's quite a good actress- she can play b**chy (sorry, didn't know what else to call it) really well. She has a sexiness to her that you can just see. I think she's also very sassy & smart. But Tony's a huge star and Carina never matched him on that scale, I wonder if that had anything to do with the breakup. I must say, you're really hooked on TL now! When are you going to see all of TK's movies? If you had to choose right now, would you choose TK or TL? First reaction! No thinking allowed! It is prety easy to get hooked on TL, those eyes! Wong Kar Wai has said that audiences identify with TL cause he's so likable! True words, for sure.

[/quote] oh, you asked me that before and i forgot to reply: i am totally hooked on takeshi, believe me!!!! there is no one more interesting than him to me, whether asian actor or western. takeshi is the SH*T, as we say in the states. i am DYING to see 'fallen angels' and so many other things. you have no idea. the problem is that i'm having a really hard time finding tk's movies. i had a private discussion about this with webmaster and she had come VCDs that MIGHT work in my computer but i need to contact a couple friends who are computer wizzes and see what they think. i want to buy from webmaster but it won't do me a bit of good if i buy a bunch of stuff and can't use it. tony leung is only a good diversion until i get my takeshi stuff sorted out.

You know, I can't imagine life without my DVD player or my computer that plays DVDs... Especially for someone who's an absolute movie buff, it doesn't make sense to me that you don't own a DVD player... at least the cheapest, most basic one Please, you gotta have one!!!!!

Webmaster is right, Veronica, you owe it to yourself to get a DVD player. They're very affordable these days, around $70 or even less for the basic versions. You don't need anything fancy. Speaking as a long time Asian movie fan, I used to buy videos (rented mostly, but bought the ones I loved) of my favorite HK movies and they came as 2 videotapes & would cost something like $70 total for 1 movie. And now that they're on DVDs, they cost about $15-20! It's insane how much more afforable & better DVDs are than videos. Please think about getting a DVD player, you don't have to get rid of your VCR, it's an addition to your entertainment center. Plus, DVDs come loaded with extras that aren't available on videotapes, interviews with the stars, audio commentary, language & subtitle selections, trailers & previews, etc. All of the money you spent on TL movies would have made a good deposit on a DVD player! What's holding you back? I don't understand?!

I'm really sorry to hear that Leslie Cheung took his own life, Webmaster... I saw him in 'The Bride with White Hair' co-starring Bridget Lin--( agreat movie, by the way)and I thought he was quite a hottie! I think at the time, though, he hasn't come out of the proverbial closet yet? I saw him in a couple of more movies after that, but I can't remember the names of those movies.. It's amazing, how much we, as fans, have no idea what goes on in the private minds and lives of our favorite screen personalities--despite the fact that we are up-to-date with their movies, vital statistics, fav foods, pet peeves, and the like. Wherever he is, I hope Leslie has found peace and contentment at last.
