I just re-watched Hero and believe it's truly a stunning movie. Zhang Yimou definitely has a knack at making movies that have beautiful cinematography, an interesting storyline and incorporate great actors. (Another of Yimou's movie HOFD is my all time favorite) I really watched it to have another look at Tony Leung... he is an amazing actor! his facial expressions tell all. I am not a big Jet Li fan ( sorry JL fans), but he was convincing as Nameless. Donnie Yen has great presence, though not a huge part in Hero. And Maggie Cheung is also impressive. I even thought that Zhang Ziyi was not her usual annoying self- she did a pretty good job. All-in-all a great movie. The special features are definitely worth watching- all the actors talk about how they had to prepare for the movie and I'm always so surprised to here them talk in English-some even with a British accent!

Hey Tatiana, I enjoyed Hero too! It's one of my all time fave movies! I agree about the cast, too, except I'm a big Jet Li fan. I like how Yimou does the multiple storyline plot and how he paints the love between Snow and Broken Sword. I really like Maggie in this flick, she's my fave female actress, and I didn't know she spoke such wonderful English until I saw the special features. It also was a surprise to hear Tony speak English also.... The colors blow me away in this film (I'm big on colors and anything artsy so I enjoy Wong Kar Wai flicks, too) as well as how they used the nasty wind to their advantage. It's so hard to tell that they ran into a lot of obstacles in this film and that there was some serious stresses and patience, like in filming the scene where broken sword and nameless are fighting over the lake......i guess that's thanks to Yimou for being such a perfectionist in creating his visions on film. I also thought ZZ wasn't so bad in this film (even though her prima-donna air still shows through her character) but I think it was because she was an underling and because of the scene between her and Maggie in the golden/red forest. Tony is good in anything I've seen from him; most recently Ashes of Time where he plays a partially blind swordsman who takes on a gang of thieves. He's an excellent actor. I get the feeling he puts his whole being into his characters and that really shows. Anyway.....hell, i could ramble on about this film forever. I truly love it!

::dancing:: Hero is one of my all time favs! Of course, Donnie Yen is the reason why, and his character is on the screen the least, lol. Anyhow, my reason to post was...did you guys know that wasn't really Jet's bum? I didn' t know and was shocked to hear he used a butt-double Of course, no one can tell me who's butt it was though, lol, cause it was very nice.

No no, don't misunderstand. It was not vanity, he was too shy, modest and self-conscience to show his body. Rarely do you see nudity of just the chest/back from Jet, let alone his rear. He won't even kiss the female counterparts in his movies. I guess he loves his wife too much...or fears her, lol.

Lol.....he doesn't strike me as the type to marry a beeatch, but one never knows...... That makes more sense than vanity. He comes off as being so modest and quiet......I was blown away by your comment. My NO WAY was for real! Well, I'm glad you took the time to explain that for me, here I was all wondering if the man had a real superficial side to him or something.......

Why? Why are you guys talking about Jet Li's butt? Man! As a guy, I'll never look at Hero the same way again.

Lol. Well, why not?
Besides, it isn't even his butt so you don't have to worry. That butt belongs to someone else......some butt double guy.....
"Hero----starring-----Jet Li's Butt Double" lol.....
Sorry, didn't mean to wreck your experience......

If you do, let me know. Those were some tight a$$ed biscuits! And, I'm still going to check it out in some of his other flicks just to see if I can get a glimpse of his real butt. I never thought I'd be checking out Jet Li's butt.......I've always liked him for his Martial Arts, humor and sincere acting.......he's the real deal. I found this by accident today while surfing la creme d'asie: The cheeks in question....... ;D Posted by HE MAN at s2.invisionfree.com/la_creme_d_asie/index.php?showtopic=1235
