Hi elfinaniki! I thought I'd better start a new thread or Samanosuke would be after me for posting in the wrong spot. This is a continuation from the "introduce yourself..." thread. Thanks so much for the complimentary words about my travels...I think I was just inspired by your travel tales is all... Am looking forward to hearing about your up and coming trip. Have a good weekend.

Hey Tatiana! Great idea for a new thread - i like it! Hopefully it'll witness interesting swapping of travel-tales and throw up some inspiring 'tidbits' for us all! You should definately take that trip to Margarita Island, that would be amazing! WM - I haven't been myself yet, but a Swedish friend of mine tells me that Sweden is really beautiful (even if he does say so himself!). I got the impression that it's mostly thick pine forests and mossy glens dotted with colourful mushrooms and with plenty of reindeer - very fairytale-esque! I really want to go there! The planning for my own trip is goin' ok, am mostly sorting out the practicalities right now - where, for how long, doing what - but it's still sooo exciting! Am trying to cram as much Japanese as possible; i'd really love to be able to chat to heaps of local people whilst i'm out there. Takeshi - could you give me a personal tutoring session? Have a safe trip home WM EA x

Thanks for checking out my blog! Sometimes I feel like I write a lot of useless stuff... ;D I will probably continue writing in my blog from time to time... I'm thinking to make it my personal blog instead of a "travel journal".. will tell y'all later elfinaniki, I have a couple Swedish friends. When I go I will stay with one of them. It's funny that they show no passion about Sweden... barely! I haven't thought of Sweden as really that beautiful... but I'd like a different Christmas vacation especially one of my best friends is going. Winter is 20C below zero over there.. no kidding man! (to remind you, I'm from So Cal!) I can imagine every hill, every rooftop and just everywhere covered with snow...

Gosh! You guys travel alot. What fun lives. I've never been beyond my front yard. Don't feel so bad. I haven't been outside the US. Well except the day I spent in Canada. My biggest trip was moving from the East Coast to the West Coast. Driving over 3000 miles in 7 days.

I don't think Sweden is any colder than Alaska! I live 14 miles away from North Pole...really! It's an actual town that has THE Santa Claus house...there are reindeers hanging out in the front yard and toys from all over the world.
Anyhoo, I was in the military so I've lived everywhere from Hawaii to Germany to the Philippines. I'm not too fond of the midwest and would never return for a visit ever again!
I would love to one day travel to the Far East....

I traveled!!!! Yippee me! I'm in Houston (my hometown) right now and it was so hard to find a place to stay. So many people from New Orleans are here. I feel so sad for them. Most of them probably lost everything from hurricane Katrina.
I'll donate stuff to help out. Hope you guys will help out also.

Hi Samanosuke, I am so proud of you - you left your front yard! LOL It's great of you to donate to the Katrina Victims- My Aunt lived in New Orleans for over 50 years and she is safe in Texas(Thank God!), But she lost everything- everything.... I'm donating too- and thanks for bringing the subject up! And keep traveling!!

Hi Everyone! I'm just getting back from the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta! A spectacular event- 800 colored hot-air balloons in the air at one time- teamed with surrounding mountains and azure skies- amazing! I took my Mom for her birthday and sent her up in a basket! Ballooning is alot of fun- you get to be part of the chase crew- they try and anticipate were the balloon is going to land and help the basket down( obviously, there are no brakes). I believe I read somewhere that this is the most photographed event in the world! Anyway, a great time and very affordable! this Fiesta is always the first week of October. We drove to Taos and Santa Fe and there's tons of stuff to do around Albuquerque- the Petroglyph park, the tram up the Sandia MTS., Old Town Albuquerque. Give it a try next fall...Oh, and the aspens were turning also! Tatiana
