Onimusha 4

Hey MissCarlos - Thought you would like to know about this. Couldn't post this in the Takeshi sections of the forum because sadly Takeshi won't be in Onimusha 4. Onimusha 4 has a different lead character and I don't think that the character is even modeled or based on a real actor.

Onimusha 1 = Takeshi Kaneshiro
Onimusha 2 = Masadu Matsura
Onimusha 3 = Takeshi Kaneshiro and Jean Reno
Onimusha 4 = Some character that wasn't even modeled after a real person. Blah!!!!!!

The maker of the Onimusha series said that his decision to model the characters after actors for the first 3 games were to attract casual gamers. For the 4th Onimusha game he did not use the likeness of any real actors because Onimusha 4 is "more focused on the hardcore gamer, and thus does not need the catch of a star-based connection."

Early (and I mean EARLY) reprts had the main character being the younger version of the runt from the first one. Can't recall his name at the moment but he's the one who was trying to get Sammy to join Nobunaga.

Takeshi is Onimusha's co-creator so he may have a say in Onimusha 4: Dawn of Dreams.

It's gonna be different. Next month will be the one year anniversary death of Noboru Sugimura.

Tokachiro (now Hideyoshi) is the villian of this one. It'll be interesting to see how they tell this, since Hideyoshi is the man responsible for unifying Japan.

I haven't heard who the new hero is. He just looks too bishie for me (blonde hair!) Plus those stupid horns. He *does* have Marcellus's sword though.

I have a feeling he's going to be some kind of demon hybrid like Jubei.

It won't be the same without Sam-chan.

The characters in the series are real people who lived during that time but who they are got changed for the series. Case in point? Nobunaga. He's someone you either loved or hated back then.

Yes, but the game is historically accurate. It is a Japanese legend that Nobunaga sold his sold to the demons to rule Japan. Even the notes found in Oni2, where Tokachiro is responsible for repairs on the buildings are accurate, since he served in that capacity under Oda at one time.

You can't get around the fact Hideyoshi is one of the most important figures in Japanese history. He lived to be over sixty and died of illness in his bed. I will be very disappointed if Capcom rewrites history, since the way actual history is woven into the game is one of the attractions for me.

That and Samanosuke.

Play Onimusha 3: Demon Siege. Nothing of the like ever occured in history.

And Samanosuke Akechi is a nephew, if I remember correctly. What he is in the series isn't who he actually is. The name, yes, but I DO believe that he's the nephew. I have the walk-through for it and it makes mention of who he was in history. Where is the walk-through? I.. have no idea..

Other than the whole "demon" thing, the events that take place in Oni 3 are historical. Nobunaga was killed by Mistushide Akechi, who burned Hannoji Temple down with him inside. Oda's attacks on the Saito clan (Oni1) and Odani castle (Oni 2), as well as Mistushide's attack on Azuchi Castle (Oni 3) are also documented in history. Nobunaga did destroy the monastary at Mt. Hiei. He even had a sister, Oichi (Oyu from Oni 2,) although the backstory they gave her was somewhat inaccurate.

I do believe that the person of Samanosuke as portrayed in Onimusha to be fictional, although the name appears in history. Samanosuke is a ronin with no master (and his own personal kunoichi!), doesn't command his own men and despises all the "fighting over tiny bits of land." Sort of a renaissance Samurai.

Samanosuke Akechi DID exsist, as we all know, but not in the way he's protrayed in the series. If he looked that good.. mwha!! ;D

I went to EB Games today AND I SAW ONIMUSHA 4!! Errr well, the display case, anyway.

I am anxious to play the game though. I want to see if Samanosuke makes a cameo. I miss him.

Anyone played Dynasty Warriors before? I think Lu Bu is just as cool As Oda but not as evil.

It has the original Japanese voice track! Samanosuke speaking as the gods intended!

My PC won't run the demo, but my PC wasn't built for gaming. Maybe y'all's will.

Ooooooh!!! Thanks lisab. I've always wanted to hear Samanosuke with Takeshi's voice. Luckily I have a gaming computer to play the demo.

And yes, there is an Oni 4, but there is a new hero. A blonde bishounen. Can't compete with our Sam, that's for sure.

But the game (as a game) looks cool. They'll be more playable characters a la Oni 2.
