i think this may have been asked (or something similar) somehwere else, but i don't know where. i'm making an appeal to the kind hearts of all you tk-lovers, because i have a big problem my friend gave me a hong kong vcd of 2046 for my birthday. it does this wierd thing where there appear to be 2 sound tracks playing at once - one in mandrain, and the other in cantonese. i was hoping to practise my mandarin by watching it, but it's difficult to hear it properly, and there aren't any english subs, so essentially i can't understand the film at all. does anybody know a way to configure my dvd player to play just one track or the other? thank you so much if anyone has any ideas because i was looking forward to watching this film so much and its been ruined

I feel your pain. I bought "Hero" vcd last year and experienced the same problem. Someone in the forum pointed out that Mandarin is playing on one side of your speaker while Cantonese is playing on the other side of the speaker. What you have to do is depending on how your DVD is set up, choose your left or right only speaker. OR go to your set-up menu and choose the language. I found on my DVD player that plays only Region 1, I can't choose one speaker. I can however play it on my other DVD player which is region free just fine. Go figure. Hope this helps sheds some light for you!

Considering that I love all sorts of Asian movies, a DVD region free player would be great for me.
Like many people, finding Takeshi movies are found on LUCK here.

My all region DVD player cost same as helena. Used all region ones are cheaper.
Helena I hope you can watch TK now on your DVD. Kewpie chan gave you very good advice. Also you can watch the VCD on your computer. Maybe it won't be good quality but at least you can watch TK!

That is weird because VCDs should work on computers. Do you have a good media player? Did it work on your all region?
