I adore Gong Li, she is so beautiful, charismatic and a great actress...there is no comparison to Zhang Zyi...She brings to every performance this elegance, even in horibble movies like Memoirs of a Geisha or Miami Vice...

I liked gong Li's performance in Memoirs of a Geisha....she played the devious bitch character so well in that movie that made me hiss/boo at her. LOL...

Isn't this old news? Gong Li has several films coming up, but she has or won't be playing TK's mom in anything soon, right? Anywho yeah she's a great actress. When she played Hatsumomo in Memoirs of a Geisha, she did it so perfectly diva-esque and scandalous, just as the character was meant to be. Although there's no reason to compare her to Ziyi. Everyone needs to stop hating on Z, she's a great actress as well. Both have done their share of outstanding performances. I myself like Ziyi better, but hey if you're a fan of Gong Li, that's cool too.

I guess this news is referring to the 'THE BANQUET' starring Zhang Ziyi, Daniel Wu and Zhou Xun. The director of this particular film was Feng Xiao Gang and the plot was indeed on an incest relationship between the Empress and her stepson.
Gong Li was intially casted but rejected the role due to work commitments so Zhang Ziyi took her place. But i never heard anything on Takeshi.
Gong Li's a fabulous actress...i really look upon the day when Takeshi can collaborate with her. Despite the fact that she's already in her 40s, she looked wonderfully young in Memoirs of Geisha that she stole the entire show from ZZY. Well..that's my personal perspective.
Talking about ZZY, i could never see any love sparks or chemistry exchange between she and Takeshi in House of Flying Daggers.
