Kewpie-Chan, Your 5 language thingy burnt my brain! 5? YOU ROCK  Thanx (blushes beet red to her hairline) but as I mentioned, I'm only really fluent in Japanese/English where I can read, write and speak easily back and forth. For the other languages, can read/write French pretty good and Spanish read only. But I'm sure anyone can read both French and Spanish if they practiced it like me. At least for me, it wasn't too hard so may not be for you too cinxxx. Kagoshima-ben can write it like if I was doing dictation, read it and can understand it but can't speak it. For Mandarin, can understand some phrases here and there. |

It all depends on how you learn things mikomi. By that I mean do you find you learn things quicker by one of these ways: by sight, by listening, by writing, by reading and by mimicking. Many folks have said Japanese language is phonetic so it's quicker to learn by listening and mimicking. Personally, I learn faster by listening and reading...which is how I'm starting to pick up on Mandarin right now. :-) Hope this helps!
