i watched croucing tiger hidden dragon a month ago. the moment i saw zhang ziyis leading man in the movie (the desert guy), i instantly thought that takeshi would really own that role if he did it.
then i read somewhere in the net that he suppossedly turned down that role. ang lee offered it to him first!
is this really true?!!! dang!
and another thing. is it also true that takuya kimuras role in 2046 was offered to him first? and then takeshi also rejects it?
can someone tell me the real score. i mean these are good roles hes rejecting.
hes making us miss an opportunity to oggle at his lovely face....

"i don't even remember ziyi's romantic interest in CTHD. if i don't remember it then the role must not have been all that great. we know how TK loves to have a challenge and do soemthing different. maybe that role was too mainstream for his tastes. "
hehe... or maybe he is forgettable coz hes not TK? IMO. hehe.

I read from somewhere that Ang Lee first choice of his leading men were Jet Li and TK.
TK turned down the role in CTHD coz the schedule conflict with Space Traveler. (Look like he choose Space Traveler over CTHD)
And Jet Li also turned down the role that Chow got to keep his promised to his wife he would stay home and take care of her if she pregnant.
In Jet's interview after Hero hit US box office, he mentioned he turned down CTHD and Matrix when his wife's pregnant.

gotta wait for the time too... when its TKs time to turn down a film to care for his pregnant wife.
i really think he would be that kind of father and husband.
aaaawwww...

i couldn't agree more. not only do i think he WILL be that kind of husband and father, i also think he WANTS to be. for him, it won't be just a matter of "duty" and circumstance. could we ever imagine how takeshis son would look like? i really hope his future son will look so much like him.. so even if im 80.. i can still see a young and vibrant takeshi look-alike! takeshis face is a kind of medicine... so growing old might not be that bad. LOLz

Dun know about Takeshi turning down Ang Lee's roles. But that desert guy Chang Chen is a hot favourite amongst Ang Lee and Wong Kar Wai's movies. In fact, most of his (Chang Chen's) movies are all these arty movies or major productions that are able to go out of Asia. He keeps a low profile, even more difficult to see him than for me to see Takeshi Kaneshiro (at least that is with my experience...). He was a male model for clothing label Yohji Yamamoto at some stage previously. Chang can be seen in that gay movie with Tony Leung and Leslie Cheung and the other hit Chinese New Year movie alongside Tony Leung, Faye Wong and Vicky Zhao. Can't recall the names of these 2 movies offhand in English...
And about Jet Li...His wife is extremely stunning as well. A well known retired actress Nina Li-Chi from Shanghai who was extremely popular in HK in the late 80s and early 90s. Most famous for her well-endowed boops. Nina can be seen in "A Chinese Ghost Story 3" as the female ghost "Butterfly" alongside Joey Wong. Nina retired from the entertainment scene to cash in on the lucrative property market in China and apparently became quite a successful businesswoman.

Oh yes, I remember Jet Li's wife from those early Hong Kong movies, there's one with Chow Yun Fatt and Anita Mui as well. I remember by sister telling me she had the biggest boops as well
