Just how many DVDs DO you own?? I own a measly 300 or so dvds. Half of which are Asian movies. I started collecting a year ago. Many of the movies I buy I don't even open - still in orignal wrapper. I don't even have time to watch them all (Fallen Angels is one of them). I'm still debating......remote or more dvds........hmmmmm........... Gotta stay on topic now. Umm yeah, Space Travelers... nice movie.

Tatiana - did you change the region code on your dvd player? I did and went ahead and ordered a region 3 copy of "Space Travelers" for $8.95 from hkflix.com in addition to the vcd that I ordered before hand. I want to test the changed region code on my player. If you want to wait - I'll keep you posted. I should receive the dvd on Wednesday. Talk to you later, WG

Hey Tatiana and Samanosuke - I have about 310 dvds, but I've been collecting since 2001. None of mine are as expensive as some of your sets though Sam. I think the most I paid was $70 for the "Godfather" box set when it first came out and I bought that at Costco. I have all three extended versions of the "Lord of the Ring" Trilogy. My friends and family give me dvds as gifts because they know I love them so much. I watch my movies over - I equate this to rereading a favorite book. I have a portable dvd player that I take to work - I go in the conference room, close the blinds and watch movies during my lunch hour. So Sam I can totally relate. Ciao, WG

Windysgirl - I don't have a portable dvd player and my only dvd player is missing the controller, but of cours you know that already. All these movies and I cant even really watch them. You are lucky I've only received a total of five movies as gifts. My mom gave me the American version of HOFD. My friend gave me the Chinese version of HOFD because he didnt want it anymore (so I guess that means it was a used gift? ). Windysgirl I also have all three of the LOTR extended movies. I bought them all separately so that means that I did not get the big box what you put all three movies in. However, I did mail in an offer thing to the company and they sent me a free empty box to put all three movies in. Maybe I should stop buying box sets and tv series. That way I can have more money to buy more dvds. Yeah Im nuts about collecting dvds. Tatiana - Im pretty much a beginner at collecting too. Some people I know of in the dvd collection forum that I go to have up to 4,000 dvds. Wow this really got off topic. I wonder why the webmaster doesnt include an area for off-topic discusions.

Hi Samanosuke and Tatiana - I got the region 3 dvd today of "Space Travelers" that I ordered on Saturday and I am happy to report that I was able to view it on both of the players that I changed the region codes on. [glow=red,2,300]Thanks again Sam - YOU ROCK!!!!![/glow] So Tatiana you can go to town ordering any region dvd's if you wish - isn't it exciting? When I'm done here I'm going dvd shopping. About [glow=red,2,300]"Space Travelers"[/glow] - this movie was very good. It had me laughing and then teary eyed at the end. I loved the last 2 lines of the movie too. It was really great. TK looked fabulous - his sideburns were long almost to his jaw and his hair kind of curled up in the back (like in Lavender, but not as long and is darker). In alot of the scenes TK is in the background, but your eyes definitely go right to him and his expressions were beautiful. I liked his character - none of that goofy stuff. I do believe that this movie is tied for my 2nd place favorite with "Sleepless Town" behind HOFD (of course). So Tatiana - please see it as soon as you can - I'd love to get your thoughts. WG

Yeah this movie is great isnt it Windysgirl. I'm happy that your dvd player can play different regions now.
I'm like you. While watching this movie I kept looking at Takeshi to see his facial expressions eventhough he was mostly in the background.
I know your player plays different region dvds now but does it also play PAL format dvds? Theres something to think about. hehhehe!

Hey Sam - could you give me more info re PAL format. How would I find out if my players are compatable? Would the books that came with them say? I am familiar with NTSC format, is PAL from different countries? Are there codes for this too? I'm ready for my next lesson professor. Thanks, WG PS - You're making good headway for the 3rd monster!

Pal format produces a higher resolution than NTSC. Also, the color quality is much better but the bad thing about PAL is that the framerate is slower. This makes the movie seem to flicker sometimes due to slower framerate.
America uses NTSC
Most of the rest of the world uses PAL. Europe, Australia, South America, Africa, and some Asian countries use PAL.
I don't know if you can switch dvd players to PAL. I think I saw that option on my player but am not sure. My Chinese version of HOFD is PAL (the only PAL format dvd I have) and I can play it just fine.
If your player can't play pal, you can change the movie itself to NTSC. Just rip the movie onto a computer and when you burn it back onto a DVDr set it so that it burns the disc for NTSC format. That's too much work though. Just pop a PAL movie into a computer with a dvd player and watch. Computers can play PAL, well most can.
I'm not a professor or a know-it-all person hehehe. I just like answering and helping when I can. I know I like to read what you guys post and I just want to contribute whatever I can.

I forgot to answer your other questions Windysgirl.
I think any manuals for dvd players will mention if they play PAL or NTSC.
Dvds usually have region code and format printed on the back cover. Most of the movies I buy including imports from Asia seem to always be in NTSC format so I don't really pay attention to it.
Most online stores will tell you if the dvd is Pal before you purchase. I buy some of my foreign movies from Hkflix and they always have a warning if it's in PAL format.

Hi jadedragon - how are you? The pics are great! I really like the closeup of TK on the phone. I can imagine it as a contender for one of your fabulous portraits sometime - what do you think? Thanks again and take care, WG
