I got hooked on Takeshi from playing a game called Onimusha. They modeled the game's character after Takeshi. First thing I thought to myself was "Who is this bad-a@@ lookin' samurai?". From then on I've been a fan.
I like him because he seems so cool. He's someone I would like to have as an older brother or a role model...something like that. Besides....he looks handsome and has awesome hair. What's not to like?
As for putting a picture on your profile....I forgot how. Short term memory.

I read an article in OPM about the first Onimusha game and read that Samanosuke Akechi was modeled after Japanese actor Takeshi Kaneshiro. About two years after that, I picked up the first Onimusha game and fell in love with him, so I'm a fairly new fan of his.

Hello every1... im a new fan of TK... and why I got hooked?... well, to start off, i only watch movies (DVD)during my spare time... I work during the day and study at night.. so I juggle my time to have a spare time and watching a movie for an hour or 2 would be the best relaxation in a week... anyhow, one time I picked up TK's movie "The Returner"... i have no idea who TK was at that time and I didnt get to watch it ... last month I went back to the video shop and was looking at borrowing "Hero" (the one of Jet Li's?) and then I went past HOFD... picked up HOFD and returned "Hero"... in other words I ended up watching HOFD... i was so impressed with TK... he's very pleasant and enjoyable to watch and I loved the movie (honestly)... so I checked on the internet and found this site and read most if not all your posts... and I realised that TK is in "Returner" so I rushed back to the video shop and borrowed it... im hooked :-)

House of Flying Daggers did it for me. I was in Blockbuster and in the mood for something different. I was not disappointed. Could you believe that I saw Returner before HOFD and did not notice TK? I must not have been paying too close attention. After seeing HOFD, I went back to Blockbuster to rent Returner. I also bought the soundtrak to HOFD. It is good but I wish they would have included TK singing.

I was never a big fan but just recently surfing on the internet and came across an article about Tk and thought he is a interesting person, different, something very strange like a familiar feeling, so started reading about him and found this good site too. The more I read about him the more I realised theres another story with this person.
I always thought that he was a good actor, he looks the part in most of his movies, although some of the co-stars can be better.

Like Samansuke, I discovered TK from Onimusha:Warlords. The odd thing is, the game stuck in my mind, not because of TK, but because when the game was coming out, a gaming magazine put a picture of the Onimusha cover next to a picture of Keanu Reeves and wondered if Capcom had been watching too many Keanu Reeves movies! A couple of years later, I was looking for something to rent in Blockbuster and the cover caught my eye. It was only after I beat the game that I did some research and discovered that the real life inspiration was Takeshi, not Keanu Reeves! Anyway, the rest is history!

I blame HOUSE OF FLYING DAGGERS, a mix of OTHELLO with ROMEO AND JULIET in a world where flying is possible. But, RETURNER and Wong Kar-Wai's CHUNGKING EXPRESS helped a lot. First, I realized how great actor Takeshi is. Then, I figured out how charming he is. Now, I just think he is the most handsome man ever.

Hello! My name is Dolly. I am a new fan as well.....and HOFD did it. I saw Chungking Express a long time ago but since I wasn't into subtitled movies then I didn't pay attention to the actors, or the movie for that matter. I was flipping between channels about a week ago & there was nothing good on so I figured what the heck and tuned in to HOFD. I was so hooked to the story and TK that I went & bought the DVD. Been surfing the net since for his other movies. I even went as far as joining Netflix 'coz the local Blockbuster does not have any of his other movies.....it sucks!!!!!

Cheers! HOFD did it for me. I passed by it for months because one of the other people in the movie was in it. One day I just thought " I don't care if XXX is in it, it has Kung Fu I bet" so I rented it. I had no clue who he was until the Peony Pavillion scene. I really enjoyed the movie for a variety of reasons but at the end I had to find out who the fun and flirtatious Wind was. I started doing research and read up on him a lot. THen came Returner and CE and a lot of his others......and here I am today. I have discovered over this short period of time what a great and versatile person he is. He has integrity and is professional which really impresses me. Oh, and he appears to have a goofy sense of humor.......
By the way, welcome to the boards. Have fun!

Lisa, Dolly and TK_angel, welcome! I am new to this website as well (knew about this a month ago from researching on Takeshi when I surfed the net), and once I found this, I was hooked. Great job webmaster!
I fell in love with Takeshi when I was watching "Love 2000". I find him really charming and it's his charisma that attracts me to him (not to mention him being absolutely gorgeous! I have never seen such a perfect face in my life. He literally took my breath away!) He is a great actor but he has this "WOW" factor about him. It's not just about his looks, but his whole person and the way that he portrays the character in the movies (he brings the character to life). His eyes are so captivating. The more I read about him, the more I love him!

It is embarassing to confess this - though Takeshi-san has been around for umpteen years, it was only abut 4 mths ago that I first saw him for a split second in the evening TV news. Then, I felt it was like a "deja vu" thing, meaning I felt that I have met and known this person before. And at this point I did not even take him seriously, until 2 months after I accidently came across him again in a documentary on a well known international TV station. And I thought this person must be very important to appear on such a TV station, so I stayed on the channel. Because it was not a movie I could see him as himself, not in "acting mode". I remember, it was strange that in spite of his good looks, sex appeal, I thought I "saw" something else in the person. I became curious. Wanting to confirm my instincts and my curiosity, I started to check out who he is and what he is (most unromantic thing to do I think). It's been almost 2 months now, and joining this Club is the culmination of my search for answers. My instincts were right. Glad to say that the answers are all positive. One bonus point - along this journey of discovery, I also learnt the answers to some puzzling questions about my life's experiences which I had not understood then. Now I do and I feel much better for it. Thank you Takeshi-san indirectly you have also helped me.

But anywho that was an interesting story. In fact, we all seem to have interesting stories of how we found Takeshi. HOFD and the GQ magazine, those were the two things that brought me into being a TK fan. Just keeping my story short and sweet. Welcome to the forums leesa! Happy posting!

Plopp..was the sound I heard when I saw Takeshi Kaneshiro the first time in HOFD...it was my heart when it landed in the pockets of my pants.. that happens everytime I see him. I kinda think its ridiculous but I canĀ“t help it .
