Hi guys! I am a new fan & I enjoy the website & the forum very much.
Well, I was reading the postings last night & I noticed a lot of nice comments about TK by everybody. The only thing that was not very pleasant was that posting about his "sexuality". Now, I know the WM wants to end that topic but I figured, in defense of TK of course, I just wanted to give my "2 cents" about it.
You see, I am Asian.....from the Philipppines. Although I've been living here in the US half of my life I still carry & practice as much as I can my Asian/Filipino traits. I don't know if anyone else in this forum is Asian or if anyone else has first hand knowledge about Asian culture but I want to let you know a bit about it. From what I have observed so far in his movies and interviews, etc. TK is not at all GAY!!!! I just read his online diary & he refers to girls & their breasts a lot (does anyone else agree?).
Well about Asian culture as I said, when 2 men/women are in public holding hands, that's actually completely normal. Unless, they are obviously making out then you can other conclusions. This is true in most cases in the Philippines and also in South Korea (I was stationed there for over a year while serving the US Army).
So, in essence, if he (TK) was seen in public holding hands w/ another man (or hand in waist) that doesn't mean anything.
Anyway, like I said I just wanted to express my view about the subject matter & maybe shed some light on it.

Hi tkfan1, as you mentioned, takeshi has his online diary. Is that allow public access? Could you please refer that site to me? Thanks a lot! I want to know more about TK as all you know his view towards things is a bit different from ordinary people, or you may say, he is very creative! ;D

Me either. As a fan of takeshi over 10 years, I read most of the articles and interviews of him, all of which can infer that he is totally a straight man!

Hey ya'll (as they say here in Texas)
I agree with most of you. I think he's totally STRAIGHT! Upon reading his OL diary & interviews there is no implication of it at all. Also, from watching his movies, and I know he's just acting, especially when he's with a girl in the scene he is all MAN. Don't you agree, guys?

So, in essence, if he (TK) was seen in public holding hands w/ another man (or hand in waist) that doesn't mean anything. Somehow we're back to this topic, eh? I know people still wanna talk about it... seems like it'll never go away. Well, I don't wanna comment on TK being gay or not anymore but I do have something to say regarding your comment. "Asian culture" is a very general term. Where does it cover? All of Asia? From Korea down to Indonesia (and all the countries in bewteen)? There are many Asian countries and although their cultures might be similiar in a way or two, no one particular standard can speak for all "Asian". I just don't want our fellow forum members or readers that are non-Asian to be confused because say when 2 men are holding hands in public in China, Taiwan or Hong Kong... that is absolutely not "normal"! Trust me, people would give them awkward looks. That doesn't mean it only applys to China, Taiwan and Hong Kong... maybe some other countries in Asia are not cool with it too but I mentioned those 3 places because I'm most familiar with their cultures. Where do I get the cred to say that? I'm originally from Hong Kong but same with you I've been living in the States half of my life. Think about it, if 2 men appearing to be very close in public and sharing a hotel room together is considered "normal" in Asia, then why would there even be a report about it? It'll just be everyday life there's no need to discuss it, right? You mentioned that you're from the Philippines. I understand why in your idea, 2 men/women holding hands in public is normal. I've had a teacher back in high school who was Filipino. I remember she once talked about how it's perfectly normal for females in the Philippines to hold hands or arms in public. It means they're friends or sisters and NOT lesbians. But I just wanna say that this really doesn't apply to other "Asian countries" if you will because when 2 girls holding hands in the streets of Hong Kong, I can say that some local people are gonna guess they're lesbians. If there're 2 guys holding hands?! 99.99% of the local people would think they're gay. Now, of course, I'm speaking for Hong Kong people... I don't know enough of all Asia to speak for any other "Asian culture".

Webmaster you are right. You are speaking for us and what you said about culture of China, Taiwan and Hong Kong is true.
By the way, I never know there was news reporting Takeshi holding hands with another guy. Was there?
I know few years ago one Hong Kong magazine got a photo, which showed Takeshi and another man was chatting in a hotel . In fact it is reasonably normal and cannot prove anything.
I think there are two reasons which makes the media or the public guess Takeshi might be gay.
1. Through years Takeshi does not show the public that he has ever fall in love with a girlfriend.
2. The character of Takeshi is, can I say, introvert. He is not an aggressive person, low profile, a bit shy and does not like to show off. And he like reading, thinking...etc., all these are all motionless hobbies. For these reasons, people infer he is not a "true man" and he is gay.
ALL WE KNOW THESE CAN NOT STAND AND CAN EASILY BE REPEALED BY COMMON SENSE!

So true take, there are other guys like takeshi and people do think they are gay but they are not, just gentle, quiet kind of people. Thats just individual personalities.

Thanks Webmaster for your educational post! I'm finding out more and more about 'Asian' culture at every turn and it's awesome!
I just read the initial thread in regards to TK's sexuality. I saw the pics and read every post and all I have to say is:
Isn't Cannes in France?
lol.....anyone know how guys act in France?
KIDDING.........
My opinion is that the man is not gay.......but if he is, well, more power to him! It won't sway me from being a fan. Actually, he is the one who really got me into Asian dramas and comedies; i've always been a kung-fu fan until he came into the picture, literally.

So...this is my first and final say concerning that. First I have to apologize for my English, it’s not the best I know but I hope you understand what I’m trying to say: 1. We won’t find out if TK is gay or if he’s not. If he is, he wouldn’t be so stupid to tell the world, because that would be the end of his career. 2. Yes, Take, there has been a report that he was holding hands with a man and that he was sharing a bowl of soup with the guy (a bowl of soup for two at a FRENCH hotel restaurant!!! Aha.) But the pictures that came along with this report only showed him at a balcony with his assistant…no holding hands, no nothing. If they went on a balcony to hold hands, it would not only show that they are gay, but that they are…ahem… stupid…so if they were gay, they would never do that openly. 3. This assistant is working for TK since at least 1998. And he is still working for him, he appears in the Making of Biotherme Ad. He is married, has two kids – but, that does not necessarily mean that he is not bisexual. It does not prove neither the one thing nor the other...it makes it improbable not impossible. If I was caught with my assistant, I would probably decide not to take him with me to other events to stop the rumours…but he still does, and will do be in the future I guess... he doesn’t care because it wouldn’t help anyway. That could be some sort of statement, but it doesn’t have to be. 4. Yes, reporters entered the hotel room (or any hotel room) after TK had left it. There have been pictures of that room. And these pics are a good example for a complete blow up. They even photographed two bottles of Johnny Walker to “prove” that they must have had a lot of “fun” together…needless to say…if you take a closer look at the bottles…they are the little ones from a hotel minibar….not the big ones…The list goes on. I don’t want to bore you with that. The thing is…if you want to sell a story to a newspaper, a paparazzo has to find something really extraordinary…that makes the difference between a 500 or 50.000 USD photo. What would you do guys?
What I’m trying to say…if he’s gay, we won’t find out until he comes out with that. But the “proves”, that reporters are trying to find are made up or useless…and WE won’t find out by discussing this matter endlessly. It’s none of our business anyway.

Thank you fuyumi, I feel the same about your points, I have also noticed the miniature bottles of whisky from the photos. haha You need bigger bottles of whisky to have "a lot of fun".

Fuyumi,
First of all, let me say your English is great. I couldn't have said what you wrote any better. So, no need to apologize, nobody's perfect.
As far as the topic at hand, I agree with you. Pictures of his hotel room, bottles of alcohol, etc. does not prove anything. Ultimately, I still believe in my heart that he's straight, until real and obvious facts come out like him saying it for sure.
