Windysgirl - buying movies you already own? I don't know about you but I buy dvds (better versions) of movies I already own. That's because I like collectiing dvds, but if you are a casual movie watcher then maybe you could just rent it if possible. If it's cheap enough then you could buy it. Limited editions are cool but some are a tad pricey.

Hi Tatiana Good to hear from you! I'm glad you liked "Goodbye Mr. Cool". Last weekend I saw "Il Mare", which Samanosuke and webmaster spoke of - it was very good and the new dvd release of "3-Iron". It was a very unusual film - both of these titles are from Korea. The director's commentary on "3-Iron" was very interesting - anyone who sees this film should watch it. There is almost no dialogue in his films and he is a deep thinker. Both films are available at Netflix. Everything is fine here in CA - thanks for asking. How about with you - what's new? Got to go now, so I talk to you later. Windysgirl

I would recommend the movie called Samurai Fiction. It's kinda light-hearted and the music is different. For Zhang Yimou movies, have any of you seen Happy Times. The dvd has a funny cover making one afraid to rent it. It is really different from the rest of his movies, the Gong Li and Zhang Yiyi ones. If you saw it, please tell me what you think. I thought it's touching but...different.

Samurai Fiction is really cool. If you like that then you should also watch Red Shadow: Akakage. It's made by the same director.

Samanosuke, Great! I will try to get Red Shadow then. I like this director a lot. He pays homage to Kurosawa in SF too. I read somewhere that Zhang Yimou said that Kurosawa is not well liked in Japan, but highly praised outside Japan. Isn't that funny...

Speaking of Samurai Fiction, did you know that Samurai Fiction is only the first movie in a series of movies starting with "S F"? It's alternative name is SF: Episode One - Samurai Fiction.
Hiroyuki Nakano plans to make many more movies starting with SF. The other SF movie that he finished was Stereo Future. I don't know if he is going to continue this trend but its pretty cool.

Samanosuke and Maya - thanks for the recommendation of "Samurai Fiction". I just finished watching it - Netflix has it. It was very cool and I am playing/listening to the credits for the 10th time - I love the song "Save Me" and the soundtrack was excellent too! I just did a search on Tomoyasu Hotei and ordered his album "Electric Samurai" - I couldn't find the soundtrack to the film anywhere (including yesasia). I am anxious to see "Red Shadow" - I hope Netflix has it (my next stop).
Keep those recommendations coming Samanosuke - how's the new remote treating you? ;D
Peace, WG

Hey Samanosuke - long time no speak. How are you? What do you think of the remake of IL Mare called The Lake House? It opens next week and stars Sandra Bullock and Keanu Reeves. I look forward to seeing it especially since I loved the original Korean version which you originally recommended. Have you seen anything else that you can recommend? Thanks, WG
