I don't think Mei was capable of throwing accurately at that point. She was staggering and weak. I think she meant to kill Leo but missed.

No, she made Leo think she was going to kill him but really, she threw her dagger to protect Jin...(see the slow-mo shot of her dagger hitting the drop of blood from Leo's) In the director's commentary, he does make a reference to this.

I just adored how you could visibly notice the gradual growing of his love for Mei, you could see it sweeping across his adorable unsuspecting face throughout the movie. I found myself smiling all the way through at how cute it was When he was giving her the bunch of flowers he'd picked, I just melted at how sweet his little face was! exactly like a shy school-boy Jin started out cheeky and looking for a bit of fun - an innocent play-boy not knowing what was about to strike him!!- and went from treating it all as a joke to being unable to control his enormous feelings (though he certainly tried when he insisted to Mei that he was 'just the wind that leaves no trace' when she asked if he had feelings for her). You could see his love for her intensifying in his eyes until he looked as though he didnt know what to do with himself! Poor boy! It was like he was in pain or something - awww! You just want to go and give him a hug and tell him its all going to be ok!! I agree with you mrtakeshi - how could Mei have declined him when he left that last time? - his face was so pleading, wearing his heart on his sleeve. Sniff!! All I can say is that I dont care what the critics say - Takeshi Kaneshiro is an outstanding actor to portray his character in such convincing detail

That film means a lot to me although that is not the first film I have seen with Takeshi. I have seen very little number of films with him so I think that this one is the best....it is not about the plot or about being too perfect........hope you do not mind if I say I have seen better movies. But what I am saying is that Takeshi has acted so awesome and so naturally in some moments that I felt pain. He is very good at acting with his eyes only. there was the moment in the woods when Mai said that someone was following them and the reaction of Takeshi was so natural and turn from a relaxed and almost happy state to a concentrated look of the predator before the strike...........I hope you do understand what I mean 'cause I sometimes may sound as if totally into me when I talk about this moment in the HOTFD

Mikomi, don't worry! We TK fans are quite accustomed to "reading between the lines" so to speak...! When you say that you hope we understand what you are trying to say...we do! TK can make the most literate and verbal person stammer and stutter...in ANY language!

After reading through this thread, there is very little left to be said about HoFD and Takeshi's part in it. I would simply state that the scrutiny put to this movie by TK's fans is incredible! I hope the Asian film-makers pay attention to the details, coz, Baby...We're watching!!! I made a bookmark of Takeshi as Jin, and the image of his beautiful face at the Peony Pavilion adorns my every page! I wonder if he gets sick of hearing how pretty he is. ? Do you think that is why he is so private? How could a guy know if anyone was true or not? How ironic that he was the one who's motives were questioned in HoFD, (about being true or not) and then in real life, he must suffer that same dilemma. Poor baby. here, let me...

Sweet! I was laughing of your joke. I know it is stupid to coment jokes but I need to say that so - what I wanted to say: he is not pretty!!!!!! He is hot handsome! I do not think I am the person to call him female beautifull at all. He is very masculine beautifull. Even I would get sick if someone told me constantly that I am pretty. But I guess he is often told things like that - so I say you are right.
Again and again - I liked your joke....sorry for comment - concider me anecdote blonde after that.lol

my cinxxx you are so very articulate on the subject of HOFD. and you've kept it mostly clean must be the good librarian genes. i agree that tk is just awesome in it. i also agree that maybe its partially modesty that makes him so private? he doesn't want to rub his intense prettyness/handsomeness/hotness (select preferred) in the other men's faces going back to the dagger throwing of mei, that was so confusing. i can't help thinking, did zhang yimou half want people to have an ambiguous ending? because it was so hard to understand, and there are so many theories.

Mikomi, please don't mistake my saying Takeshi is "pretty" in a feminine way! I probably should have used another word! I find him beautiful, also. In a totally man kinda way Hi, Helena! Glad you're back with us! I missed you helping keep myself on the straight and narrow! Thanks for noticing that I've been trying hard not to smut the place up with my hormone filled musing for our dear Takeshi-san! (He makes me stupid! )

cinxxx, I know you do! it is just that word pretty goes to a girl more. But you have to admit that in a way you are right - a lot of people think that TK is beautifull and pretty.
Not me! Not you! But a lot

personally, i think tk has some feminine-prettyness in him as well as the masculinity. and personally, that's a good thing but its all personal.

Reminder to those in Canada & the US that Spike TV will be showing HOFD Tuesday evening. This will likely generate more interest in TK so there may be increased traffic to this website.
