This is my synopsis of the movie - exactly what Jin says - that they are all "pawns." Mia was out to avenge her father's death and I think that she believes Lau's character failed to protect her father and therefore, she sent out Mei in this mission knowing that Jin would fall for her and cause Lau (I forgot what his character's name was in the movie) to be upset, causing all of them in a duel at the end. I came to this conclusion becuase of the scene in which Lau asks the madam (forgot her name too) why Mia had sent Mei, knowing that he has been in love with her for so long and he also admits to failing to protect her father. Also, Mia knew that this would cause a love triangle and more than likely knew that Mei will not kill Jin therefore causing Lau to attempt to kill both Mei (cause no one else can have her) and Jin (cause he'll fight for Mei). I may be wrong and hopefully someone out there will clarify if I had missed anything. I certainly did not feel any chemistry between Ziyi and Takeshi. The kissing scenes were truly unconvincing and painful (the teeth banging! and how could anyone resist from kissing Takeshi?!)

I managed to only open the U.S. trailer of HOFD on this link. It was beautiful and reminded me of how transporting watching the entire movie was for me. Thanks, SamIAm!

I think she threw the dagger because her love for Jin was so great that she would die for him. I mean, isn't that why Jin moved closer to Leo? So that she couldn't throw the dagger and therefore live. He was willing to sacrifice himself for her because of his love for her. Call me crazy, but that is what I think.

The first time Jin and Mei lock lips made my stomach do that back-flip, butterfly feeling thing. But when he ties his sword to the tree and the squirrel is climbing on it is my favorite. He's so mischievous!!! Jin wouldn't have to save my life to "look all he wants"!!

Wait a min, she threw the dagger so that Leo wouldnt kill Jin, she sacrificed herself for him, right?
