I just finished Golden Ball this morning before work - I enjoyed it very much. Of course TK was fabulous and the show was very cute. I have been hearing "You're My Destiny" in my head for the last couple of days - does anyone out there know who sings it? Frankie Valle?

Hi, "You are my Destiny" is a Paul Anka tune. Actually there are several of Paul Anka's songs in Golden Ball. "Diana" which has the line, "Stand by me Diana" and also "Kissing on the Phone". There are more but I don't know the titles.

Hi Mercedes - thanks for the info. You know I met Paul Anka and his daughters once in Carmel, CA. I was working in a gelato place and they came in. He was very nice, but his daughters were a little spoiled and bratty. They tried the pear gelato. It's funny the things that you remember when your memory is triggered. Windysgirl

I love this series. It's so 'joe normal' but with all the silly concepts that show up in dramas.....

i finished watching the drama last night and i loved it....well, as you all knew i wasn't gonna say that. it was different from all those other sad, soppy ones where someone dies and the couple doesn't end up together.....love those, but it was nice to watch something different. i was glad to see they ended up together at the end....i was afraid he might end up with the girlfriend with the annoying voice....was thrilled actually when he dumped her....she didn't deserve him. anyway, 2 thumbs up for this series!

I too, found the girlfriend annoying, but it was not inconceivable that they could have been an item before she left. Seeing them with little chemistry made a lot of sense, after all, Akutagawa had changed a lot (even if he didn't really appreciate it until later), while she had been gone. I was not looking forward to sseeing this, and put off buying it for ages, but when it arrived I had to watch it all. I loved the interaction between Hitomi S. & Akutagawa. It all seemed so very natural and refreshing. It was a very pleasant surprise and I enjoyed all the characters. And yes, I enjoyed the end very much. There's something about Takeshi.... can't put my finger on it, but he's always good to watch.
What's he going to do next? Whatever it is, it will be a nice surprise. Green Sabre? Has anyone heard an update on that? Some say he has committed to doing it, some say he's still considering it. The director sertainly has good credentials.

I placed an order for this (entire series) as well as "Kamisama mou sukoshidake". Cost a mighty pretty penny but from what I've heard (from this board and others) sounds to be worth adding to one's DVD library. *sigh* Kewpie-chan's wallet is a bit light this month after splurging on these as well as premier nite tix But, consider it money worth spent

**spoiler alert!** OMG! This series was SO funny and sweet at the same time. Some funny scenes that had me cracking up were: the train ride scenes after he was falsely accused of being a "chikan" (molester) and how he and Mr. Sakura always held their hands up in plain site; when Akutagawa runs out of his apartment late for work and sees Hitomi dressed up like an "obatarian" (old lady), stops, backtracks, points and laughs out loud as well as the funny dialog afterward; the comments and impersonations he does as he gets his face painted by the 2 geisha girls and the way he looks and says,"A sou" to Hitomi after he thinks he's being witty or teasing her and she comes back with a better barb. The sweet scenes was Akutagawa saying he remembers everything after dropping Hitomi's earring in the drink; confessing to Hitomi in the park as he cries; the smile on his face as he looks at the baby of his old classmates kid; the dialog between Hitomi and Akutagawa where he keeps answering to her "Oui Madam" and of course, the final match where he says "I love you." to her. *sighs* The chemistry between the characters Akutagawa and Sakura was great. Since I have the set without subtitles, had to do a lot of replays on some of their fast-paced dialogs to try and understand what the heck they were saying LOL! Benkyo ni narimashitakara OK desu. And boy, can that ex-GF's voice BE anymore irritating? Listening to her is like listening to someone rake their fingernails across a chalkboard. Ugh! I also liked the songs they were playing throughout the series. Were they all sung by Paul Anka? Does anyone know if there's a "Golden Bowl" soundtrack available??

AHHH! maaaaaaaaaaaaaan this was so gooooood i ...AAAAAH! i just finished downloading the last 2 episodes today, and i was very happy. no. ecstatic! ahaha! man it was so funny and cute, I don't even know where to begin. everytime tk said "ooooh yeah" it gave me a huge smile! and when his face gets painted like a panda with a hitler chin AHHAAHA!... or when those kids would get attacked by the yakuzas... or when that lady called akutagawa a molester and some guy screams out "she's so ugly no one would want to molest her!" I just LAUGHED so hard! i can't stop laughing just thinking about it. not to mention the fact that takeshi was so handsome, i'd sometimes forget to read the captions cause i was staring at him so much, and then i'd have to watch the entire scene AGAIN cause i wouldn't understand what was going on LOL however...
what.... was up.... with his ex gf?
I wanted to sock her in the face.
when u first look at her you'd think, aww she's so cute...and then she'd open her mouth and then you'd want to shoot her. i thought ayumi hamnasaki was as annoying as it gets. WROOOOOONG! its funny... i noticed in tk's scenes with her he didn't look as chipper as he usually does. its understandable with his role, he's not supposed to have much chemistry with her anymore... BUT DOOON'T EVEN LIEEEEEE TK! u found her annoying too didn't you? you wanted to flip her over and throw her off the balcony in that one scene with the director... didn't you? I KNOW IT. I WOULD HAVE DONE IT!

ROTFLMAO!!! ;D OMG, I was laughing so hard reading your comments about the irritating ex GF that my roomie walked over from the other side of the house to see what I was cracking up so hard and so long about! Oh now I'll have to replay the scenes where he's with her to see the "WTH" expression on his face (Oh, in case no one knows what WTH stands for it's What The Hell) ;D

hahaha kewpie-chan you love it !!!! CAUSE U KNOW ITS TRUE! you'd think that she would have a little more charisma like a 'cult leader' as chiaki says, being so persuasive and all... but i don't think anyone could ever bring themselves to commit suicide for a leader who has a voice like that. they'd probably make her drink the 'magical' kool-aid first just so that they don't have to hear her screech anymore. REMEMBER WHEN SHE TRIED TO IMITATE TK'S GAME EXPRESSION? (you know how he goes 'oooh'...'ahhh')... *shakes head in bemusement*
She sounded like a dying cat... on crack.

i downloaded the episodes from d-addicts.com they've got EVERY FREAKING KIND OF J/KDORAMAS POSSIBLE. i only wish someone would make the subtitles for love 2000... i'm on the verge of buying it, i can't wait any longer *cries*.
i don't think all of them are sung by paul anka... but my favourite song of all is "put your head on my shoooooooooooulderrrrrrrrrr" lol it was stuck in my head all day, and then i learned how to play it on guitar. such a good song. i love how they use all the oldies to give the drama a very nostalgic feel.

My fav song in that series (and I don't know the title so it's driving me CRAZY trying to find it) is where part of it goes: "Uh-huh I love you so, Un-huh I won't let you go..." that has a good beat to it and lots of horns playing. The song that stuck in my head was "You are my destiny"...that was easy to play on the piano Oooo, I'll have to check out the site you mention ;D
