"TK looks like an anime character" (paraphasing Veronica)
wow, I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought that. When his hair is about chin length and covering his face, he looks like one of those super hot anime characters come to life.

You know what it is? It's his hair more than anything. Moving carelessly through the wind but still looking great. I don't know how he does it. In the Returner that's what I was thinking all the way through... Takeshi's an anime character.

Hi Alisha - I was referring to the DVD in both instances. I will receive my rental from Netflix tomorrow and am looking forward to viewing. Have you seen this movie yet? What did you think?

Have you seen this movie yet? What did you think? This movie is my FAV from TK's collection. He's very cool in this one. He spoke both japanese and mandarin in this one. The story line was not easy to guess the ending either, kept me on the seat for the whole 2 hours. Hope you enjoy watching it.

Hello, This is about the ending of the movie so don't read it if you don't want to know. The ending was confusing for me. Maybe someone can help me out. I heard that the version released in the U.S. had a vital scene cut. Why did Xiao Lian's gun have no bullets when she tried to shoot Kenichi? Did Kenichi empty it? Did she know it was empty? He gave it to her when they were leaving the restaurant but I thought she had it back in the cemetary. If anyone can shed some light on this it would be appreciated. Thanks, Mercedes

Saw this movie last night and LOVED it. This is now my second favorite movie - first being HOFD. Yeah Mercedes - she had the gun at the cemetary and used it to shoot that big guy Sun-Chou (sp?) and she shot her bro twice so maybe the gun only had three bullets when TK gave it to her. But you know I don't think that he knew it was empty when she pulled the trigger on him. What's your opinion about that? Anyway, I thought TK and the character he played was very HOT & SEXY in this movie. Wearing his black leather coat, black gloves, black ostrich leather cowboy boots, facial hair and pony tail - HOT, HOT, HOT. Let's face it we love the bad boys. The opening scene, under the credits, when the camera was following him down the street in black and white was very cool - I felt like I was there - witnessing the life going on there and could imagine the noise and smells too. Then the camera pans up to the billboard for "The Sleepless Town" CD (now on sale) switching back to color and entering the room as Kenichi did. Totally hooked me in to wanting to see the rest of the movie. One more thing that I want to add and have mentioned before in other postings about the characters TK portrays - even as Kenichi, the gangster who knows this woman is lying to him and dangerous, still takes her to the hot springs and surprises her, which made her so happy. Even as a bad guy he still makes his characters kind of romantic and loveable.

Watched this movie again (a couple of times) during this 3-day weekend and noticed something that no one has mentioned in any postings.
You can hear TK sing the word "Unforgettable" to Nat King Cole! It is while they are in the car and he has changed the radio station, but before he tells her about the connection of the song with his mother and his childhood. The camera is not on him at the time, but on the girl. Could someone please check this out so that I know I'm not hallucinating. Thanks
P.S. Mercedes - the gun info in my earlier posting is not entirely correct. Kenichi actually gave her a gun several times during the story, but in this instance he gave it to her right before they left the restaurant and went to the roof and got caught (in case they got separated). So maybe he gave her an empty gun on purpose, (remember he was so angry at her that he hit her ), but I still think he didn't know that it was empty when she had it to his head and he told her to shoot and she pulled the trigger.

Yes, Windysgirl. You're not the only one who heard Takeshi sing a bit of 'Unforgettable'. Also, I believe Kenichi knew the gun he gave Natsumi was empty. At the time he gave the gun to her--he already knew that as much as he is enthralled by her--or, in lust--because I don't really think they were ever in love--he knew that she could not be trusted. Hence--his suspicions were proven when they were in the car and she was given an option to shoot him. Too bad about the way it turned out--but, I don't see it ending any other way--concerning the mood and storyline of this movie. But, as always, Takeshi's acting is superb!

Hi everybody - great news! [glow=red,2,300]Sleepless Town[/glow] has been released today with non-embedded English subtitles and chapters. DVD quality is great - got my copy at Best Buy for $14.99. TK's name in caps across the top of the case with "star of House of Flying Daggers" underneath. I can't wait to get home and watch it again.

Subtitles are non-embedded you say? Music to my ears! I hope Best Buy has it in stock at their store. I'm going to check it out tomorrow and buy it if they have it. If not then I guess I gotta buy online then.
Thanks for the reminder Windysgirl. I totally forgot about it.

You're welcome Samanosuke I thought you would like the non-embedded subtitles on this movie - I remember you talking about hating them before. They were embedded on the version I rented from Netflix and there weren't any chapters. The first time I watched the dvd and hit the previous chapter button the movie went all the way back to the beginning - I had to fast forward back to the place I wanted and I was more than halfway through the film. I'm so spoiled - lol. Anyway, watched the new one last night and I must say it was a pleasure. The subtitles were much better- although I still spotted a couple of typos and omitted words.
