I'm an escapist.
I can't think. I mean, I do but not about things I know will make me upset and make me lose sleep so I think about other things that make me euphoric and most become stories.
I don't expect many to understand the way I am.

You know what? I am about to go off the deep end so I will say this, simmer down and come back:
I KNOW HE'S NOT REAL. As I've said, fantasies never hurt anyone. No harm is being done and who Oded played in the second RE movie was not the true, blue, authentic Carlos.
As I've said, I don't expect many people to understand me.
Again, HE'S PURE FANTASY. It's not only here that I get bombarded with "HE'S NOT REAL".
Do people think I am that stupid and oblivious?
I need to simmer down. I have to go before I do or say something that'll get me banned. I am sorry for getting mad, but I am just getting sick and tired of being told the obvious when no harm is being done.

Don't worry--I'm kinda in the same boat where a fictional character is concerned. I've got the most awful crush on the lead character in this manga graphic novel series 'MARS' by Fuyumi Soryo--Rei Kashino! I think he's a total hottie! At least, you get to see Carlos animated! I only get to see Rei frame by frame in the graphic novel

Well, well...*Chuckle* Seems like I've been at least a part of starting a stream of discussion here-- about other actors, no less, which is way off topic on this thread about TK and plastic surgery (but that's been for quite a while, I've noticed, and that's what happens on fan forums). *Chuckle* Anyway, I feel no need to put my opinions in of what I think of the assorted actors mentioned by folks here. I can assure people, though, that I won't say I think any actor looks/seems "hideous", even if I happen to think that of him/her. To me, that just seems disrespectful here. Thanks for your peace-making post, where you emphasize the importance of *respect* here, OleWiseOne.

I'm sorry to read that you took it as a slight to you - that was not my intention and I sincerely apologize. We all dream and we all fanatize. That's what I do with TK, that's why I'm on this forum ... likelihood that I'll ever be within a 50 foot radius of TK, nadda, but that's not stopping me from dreaming. TK is no more "real" to me than maybe Carlos is to you, but it's real enough. If you're happy, go for it - keep the fantasy alive. And I'll shut up!

As what Swellboy just said--the topic is going away from the original thread---so--here's my 2 cents' worth about TK's surgery--I think if ever he did---it's definitely the eyes. there is a difference, even though slight --about the eyes during his early 20's and the way his eyes are now. I think even as far back as his 2000 film Space Travelers--(which is a great film, by the way) one can see that his eyes are wider. I don't know if it's the loss of all that 'baby fat' on his face as he grew older--maybe, so. I, for one, think there is nothing wrong with improving one's looks--especially something as minor as a bit of eyework. Way to go, TK!

I'm better now and as I've said, who Oded played wasn't the true blue authentic Carlos Oliveira from the series.
That's another topic.
As for the topic at hand, I don't believe Takeshi has had plastic surgery. He keeps himself in great shape (except for that naughty habit of smoking).

I have no idea who the Carlos character is that you all are talking about and since I'm not into the gaming world I kinda don't care, no offense! But I have to say, in regards to TK going under the knife, there is no way that he has had anything done. First, he just doesn't seem like the type to even consider doing plastic surgery. To me, he looks shy and not as influenced by fame as most people would be. Out of all the pictures I've looked at, I don't see vanity in his presence, which I think is partly why he is such a talented actor. Second, if you are talking just about visible changes in his face, there is no way he has had anything done. Like I said I've looked at alot of pictures, old and new, he does look a little different but the changes are just age. People with bigger eyes get creases with age and loss of baby fat also changes other areas of the face. Keep in my he smokes and that can accelerates the appearance of aging. Even slight weight changes and change of hair styles on some people can have an big impact their appearance (I personally like him best with long hair). Also he definitly has the kind of face that is easly molded by lighting and camera angles, that combined with his acting is a stellar mix. >:(Gorgeous!!!! There is NO WAY he has plastic surgery!! And as far as comparison between Takeshi and Orlando, I could see someone doing so in some ways but I don't think there is any comparision. Orlando is talented and gorgeous too but Takeshi is way more handsome and WAY more talented. I haven't even seen that many of his movies because here in USA they are hard to find but from what I have seen Takeshi has so much range. Can I say it again? Gorgeous Enough about the silly notion that he has had plastic surgery done to that perfect face! I am more curious about the rumours if he is gay. It's really none of my business but if he doesn't like girls I wouldn't know what to do with all of my day dreaming.

...Like I said It's really none of my business but if he doesn't like girls I wouldn't know what to do with all of my day dreaming. Hey, Cici, whatever TK's sexual orientation (and, frankly, I'm personally happy with it remaining a mystery to some degree-- let's my imagination feel more free to run wild) happens to be, just keep on day dreamin', ya hear? I've found out about certain attractive male stars being married to women, for example, and have found that to sometimes be--depending on who the guy is, of course-- a deciding factor that he's straight. So, on those occasions, I've taken pause, then gone back to my pleasant day dreaming... Oh, and to try and stay on topic here, I've already posted how I don't think TK has had any plastic surgery, so 'nough said by me on that.

The procedure is called a blepharoplasty, and the man's definitely done it - most likely on both eyes, and most definitely on the right one. The best before and after pictures can be seen by looking at the voice session photos for Disney: www.takeshi-kaneshiro.com/images/tar18.jpgwww.takeshi-kaneshiro.com/images/tar25.jpgWhen you're making your money off your face, it simply is a prudent business decision to 'correct' what was previously a fairly noticeable assymetry between right and left eyelid.

I really don't want to touch this topic because I really don't think it matters. However since I had similar experience, I might as well speak it out and let it go!
I really don't think Takeshi had plastic surgery done. He had slight crease on both of his eye lids if you look closely in those "before pictures". They could deepen as a person ages. That happened to myself too. I got crease on both of my eye lids all of the sudden when I was in my mid-teen. Weird, but true.

I don't know why people think that. For one, TK is so modest regarding his looks. Most of the time he express the fact that he does not think he's attractive. During the Biotherm Press conference, he's said that when he looks in the mirror, he feels shy & that he has such a big face. Two, he's always trying to hide his face behind his hair or such ... ugh, he doesn't strike me as vain at all. Nor, could I see him doing anything because 'showbiz' required it of him - he walks to the beat of his own drummer. He just got lucky in the gene pool. Also, as an Asian person with small eyelids myself, I know that somedays when I wake up, those lids are there. Then there are other days when they're not. And other days, when they've gotten bigger! And, OTHER days, when there are 2 or 3 of them on top of each other ... they're not like Western eyelids, they morph & change their shape whenever they want to. My opinion, definitely no plastic surgery. He was a gorgeous young man & now a gorgeous adult.

I first thought he had the surgery done on his eyes cos in Returner(02) and HOFD his eyes always have deep crease comparing to his early movies which he had very light crease. I have to agree with Olewiseone after I watched Sleepless Town(98) the 2nd time. I've notice that his eyes sometime had deep crease sometime had not which I found it very surprise myself cos his eyes are bigger than average asian eyes. And I never knew some asain eyes are like that. I'm asian myself but I always have big eyes and deep crease so I thought the eyes and creases are something you either have or dont have. My guess is sometime around 97 - 98 (in his mid 20), his eyes became deeper crease. I dont believe he had done surgery during the shooting of the movie since it'd require recovery time.

I obviously don't have any proof of whether he has or hasn't had plastic surgery, but I just have this gut feeling that he hasn't. I have seen most of TK's movies, a few of his J-dramas, and a boatload of his commercials (Webmaster, you're the greatest!!), and it never occurred to me that he had anything done to his eyes until I saw the discussion on this forum. I can see the differences that have cited on this forum, but there doesn't seem to be THAT big of a difference to me. I'm not of Asian descent, but from time to time, my eyes don't look exactly the same everyday either. Sometimes there are irritants (contacts, pollen, crud in the air) that make my eyes look puffy. There have been times when I've been taken aback when I look in the mirror because I don't look like myself! Of course, that could be due to another possible factor...AGE!!! One thing I have noticed is that TK's eyes look a little different depending on which angle you're seeing him from. There are a lot of explanations for the differences that can be seen without automatically assuming he's had surgery. But even if he has had surgery, that wouldn't be enough to make me think any less of him. I mean, when you think about it, is plastic surgery a true litmus test of how genuine a person is? Especially when you're talking about one procedure, that if it was done (and I'm not saying it was), wasn't very drastic anyway. There are plenty of people who haven't had any work done that are as fake as the day is long.
