How about sending a letter to TK that says how much us fans care for him and that it would make us even happier for him to quit or even attempt to quit smoking? It might be worth a try.

Heck, I'd tell him to go see the movie playing in most theaters now called "Thank You For Smoking". It's a dark comedy based on the novel by the same title on the huge amount of money tobacco industries put into their PR and political agenda globally to get as much people addicted to their products. I highly recommend anyone to go check it out but also Takeshi-san! Note: movie spoiler! The scene where the main character visits the first Marlboro man model and bribes him to shut up about the real health dangers of smoking is good...may make you mad but it's a good scene. As for a "letter writing" type campaign? Sure. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? Unfortunately, if something really bad doesn't happen to you directly or to someone close to you, chances are a die-hard smoker won't consider quitting

TK...you probably don't want to hear this from me but I'll be short and sweet.
We all know you smoke a lot and so do millions of people but it only takes one person to make a difference. I'm trying to get my dad to quit after many failed attempts. Anyways, you can't quit over night but do try, if not for yourself then for the second-hand smokers who have to breathe the same air. You don't want your fans to get sick...do you?

In one of his movies "Too Tired To Die" when asked if he smokes he says, "No, it's not good for your health." Oooo the irony....

I have been smoking for almost 20 years. It is a very hard habit to quit. I know I should, easier said than done. In Seattle, you can't smoke in bars or within 25 feet of a public building. You think that would make me quit. Nope. A pack of cigarettes cost $6.20 a pack. That can't stop me either. It is total willpower, which I still haven't found... Maybe someday... I will. Good Luck to all that try to quit. Sorry I had to put my two cents in.

I quit smoking 5 years ago on 4/29/2001. I guess I was ready, but I went out and bought a laptop with a DVD player that same day. I knew that I couldn't afford to buy cigarettes and make the payments or buy dvd's. So the money thing helped me alot. I figured I was spending almost $300 a month on cigs. Although I had to eventually ween myself from buying dvd's (295 at last count). I think we all have to find our own motivation and basically trick ourselves. Anyway it's doable if you really want it. ;D

good for you windysgirl for kicking the bad habit Some people are more prone than others in having addictive personalities. You know, there was a study released the other day where there is actually a clinic people can check themsleves into to kick the habit of playing video games. Yup, you heard me right! Just like drug addicts check into a drub rehab clinic, now gamers can check themselves in to ween off video game addiction! (I kid you not, you just can't make stuff up like this!) Hmmm, so let's see. Besides a chain smoker, Takeshi-san is a self professed video game freak. Oh boy!

I really hope he does quit smoking. I had a teacher who smoked for years and she quit and she said it was really hard when she was trying restrain herself from taking out a cigerette and lighting it. So if anything, it would be wise for Takeshi to quit now while he's not that old, so that it would probably be easier to quit smoking. He should also see those documentaries on people who smoked throughout most of their life. It really would help TK see the hazards it has on his health and it might persuade him to quit now.

So true....he should stop smoking NOW!!!
Hey, one day when I meet him and give him a kiss, I like to smell his minty breath instead of the smoking aftertaste.

Yeah, I too want to meet a sweet smelling Takeshi Kaneshiro. He's a smart guy and I hope with everything he believes in and has worked so hard to get to, it would be nice to know he doesn't have to smoke or just doesn't want to, to make himself happy.
