Thanx sreyda! The director is scheduled to be there. I dunno if TK will be there (keeps fingers crossed and prays) as I read somewhere he may be filming an upcoming movie soon. However, seems like in past practice there's been "surprises" at these opening if not closing events so.......who knows? I won't spoil what my gut instincts say so as not to jinx it but usually when a thought pops in my head about certain topics, 9 out of 10 times I'm on the money. Case in point, one other forum member here scored tix to opening nite. Which is kinda eerie cuz just last week was thinking "gee, would be great if at least one person from this forum could watch the film with me."

AARRGGHH! I can't believe my friend flaked out on the last minute and can't go to the fesitval tomorrow! I am left holding one prepaid tix if anyone is interested in going tomorrow nite to see "Perhaps Love" and attend the opening party festivities right afterwards.

That would be so awesome if you get to meet someone that was involved in a big way with that movie at the opening.
I recently had the chance to get the limited edition of Perhaps Love for $20 but someone outbid me a few minutes before the auction was over. Was it one of you guys? huh? huh? huh?

They've already announced the producer is slated to be there as well as "other guests". In past practice, surprise guests have been stars of films so keeping fingers crossed!

the director Peter Ho-Sun Chan was present at the SFIFF opening nite showing of Perhaps Love, I had the pleasure of sitting 4 rows behind him in the front. . .not knowing at first that it was actually him until all these media people with cameras went crazy taking pictures and he went to the podium to give a brief opening speech
it was amazing seeing the film Perhaps Love in a classic big screen theater

Almost didn't make it no thanks to the rip off cab driver Glad I finally got to see a movie, and "Perhaps Love" on top of it, in the historic Castro Theater. They still have an organ player entertaining the crowd before the movie starts! I was sitting up in the balcony which was great as we had an unencumbered panoramic view of the theater as well as screen. As Halohalo mentioned, the director as well as producer of "Perhaps Love" were present and gave a brief speech before the movie showed. The movie itself is a bit "artsy" so it may be a bit much for some folks. I highly recommend you read up on what the storyline is about first before watching it to get a better sense of what the movie is about so you don't get lost as I heard some people say during various courses of conversations I've had at the party afterward. (Personally, I was able to follow it but my friend did not.) However, all agree hands down, cinematography is a feast for the eyes. And for all of you wanting to know how Takeshi-san sounded like singing......I was pleasantly surprised at how good he was. (Now I'd like to hear him sing something just as soulfully but in Japanese!) But Ji Jin-Hee, oh man! He brought the house down so to speak. Such a lovely singing voice. One slight critique: the film's "flow" or editing was a bit choppy in some parts. We weren't sure if this was done intentionally or not. I think it was, given that storyline is described as a "film within a film" with flashbacks. The best scene(s) with Takeshi-san? Ooo, tough call but I have to say the pool scenes, snow scene and his end scene. And sorry everyone, I did not meet TK Although my friend and I did do a double take and hard stare at this guy who looked like Takeshi-san at the party afterward. Right down to TK's trademark sideburns LOL! The party was lively...I even ran into the producer and his wife of the movie I have film credits in two years ago along with some of his friends in "the biz". Didn't go with to VIP celebrity lounge as it was very late and had to work today All in all was a memorable evening and am glad got to see "Perhaps Love" on the big screen. AND we got a great gift bag to boot loaded with goodies! For the rest of you, don't despair! There are those who are trying to get this film to be played here at least in art house theaters. If I hear something more concrete, will let y'all know

You didn't meet Mr. Takeshi? Was he there at all? Maybe that guy you saw was his body double and the real Takeshi was hiding somewhere smoking.

Hi Kris! Yes, we actually were able to meet one another. I stuck around a bit longer at the after film party than she did though. ;D

hi kris and kewpie-chan!
I read that person's blog and have to agree with her! the movie was especially artsy, but the storyline didn't seem too developed in showing why TK loved her soo much (she seemed soo cold, self-centered)! I was just happy to see TK perform, act, sing on the big screen! He is one of the most beautiful men alive!

....and yet, she won an award for her performance in this movie. I mean she was OK but not "Oscar" worthy in my book. *sigh* I'm telling' ya, it's all rigged and "political" getting nominated and/or award these days. No matter....Takeshi-san, at least in this forum in our books you rock
