All you women out there, you need to get a grip and stop projecting your fantasy on this guy. He hasn't been seen romantically with women, nor does he have a girlfriend. Hello? He's still from a conservative culture. It would really hurt his image not to mention his bank account to be openly gay. Any guy who is that good looking and that sensitive, is likely to be gay, c'mon! Don't you know that the most beautiful guys save themselves for each other? All you have to do is look at the modeling world. And now he's the model for Biotherm. Do you see straight western actors doing that? That love scene where he finally has sex with Mei in HOFD is so lame. He totally wasn't into kissing her. It was more like hyper drive rough housing not lovemaking. There wasn't any hot chemistry in that scene.
Nonetheless, he remains eye candy.

You jumped to the conclusion that he's gay. You're being overly stereotypical.
Do you have any proof that he is? Did he come up to you say tell you that he's a homosexual? No you don't so think before you speak.
Just because he looks "too beautiful to be straight" doesn't mean that he's gay.
It obviously never occured to you that he's a private person.
And he and Zhang were ACTING in a movie. Yeesh.
Sounds like you're the jealous type.

Because TK doesnt make headline in the gossip with any girl doesnt make him gay. It's normal for asian celeb. to keep their relationship secret. No one knows Jackie Chan's married til few years ago. Being in their situation I'd do the same. Being the model for male skin care product doesnt make him gay either. I just dont see the point you're trying to make here.

Exactly. I didn't know that Jackie was married until like this past February when he was on Live with Regis and Kelly. Of course, that doesn't take anything away from him and it doesn't change how I feel about him. I love him!!

That love scene where he finally has sex with Mei in HOFD is so lame. He totally wasn't into kissing her. It was more like hyper drive rough housing not lovemaking. There wasn't any hot chemistry in that scene. Nonetheless, he remains eye candy. You can go right ahead & keep thinking what you're thinking. Obviously, no one is going to convince you that he's not what you think he is, even though he is what he is, not what you think he is. With that said, "conservative culture?" Do you mean Taiwanese culture? Japanese culture? Chinese culture? Movie-idol-god culture? Or, just Asian culture (that's 1 small group for half of the world's population there ...) in general? BTW, there are openly out-of-the-closet gay people in Asia. Regarding Biotherm, he got paid big bucks to do that ... the man's not dumb! During the Biotherm press conference, when asked how he feels about the products, the best he could utter was something like, 'I feel comfortable using it.' Is that a statement of someone who rushes out to buy the lastest beauty product? No, and they were paying him lots of money to SELL the product. Not much of a sell, there, Takeshi. Regarding HOFD: the love scene was filmed outdoors, during late fall somewhere in Western China or the Ukraine ... they had lots of large heaters surrounding the actors ... the actors were barely clothed (TK was half naked-YES!) ... they were FREEZING! Pretty hard to make anything look romantic when you're FREEZING. Who's got chemistry with Zhang Ziyi anyway? In any scene she's in, she thinks it's all about her. Remember Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon? ... at least she didn't try to kill TK in HOFD like she did Chang Chen in CTHD. IMO, there was a lot of chemistry between TK & Zhang, but that particular scene was filmed too erratically. To see TK in good romantic scenes, watch The Odd One Dies or Tempting Hearts or Lavender ... he doesn't do gratuitously tasteless s*x scenes, not his style. Thankgoodness, less to see, more to imagine.

Marissa (the one who posted sterotypical statements about Takeshi's supposed gayness):
You need to get your head out sand and stop judging other cultures by the western definitions of sexuality. You asked if any western straight man would make Biotherm ads? Well yes they do. They just don't show their ads in the U.S.
Besides, what does Takeshi's decision to do those ads HAVE ANYTHING to do what western actors do? Keep your western imperial mindset out of our culture. In Asia, most movie stars act in advertisements--unlike western stars who are a bunch of hypocrites and they go to asia and do ads for big bucks and then act all high and mighty in the U.S.
Per the sex scenes: Chinese and a lot of Asian movies generally don't have crass sex scenes that western movies have. The sex scenes in HOFD are real--not the stylized crap that western movies produce on a daily basis.
I am glad that Asian stars aren't western male stars who think that the only way they are male is if they are surrounded by strippers pole-dancing. Western men are more gay--especially those football players and buff rappers--to me than any "pretty" Asian man.
I am assuming that Marissa is white, based on her ignorant comparisons to western culture. IF she is Asian--then I would tell her that she has been living in the west for too long and needs to go learn about her roots.

Whoa, Asian Female. You're treading on thin ice. You're almost posting racist comments.
Not all Western actors are what you say. In fact, my number one favourite isn't like what you say at all. Mind you, hardly anyone knows who he is (which is a SHAME!!)
And you can't judge people on what colour they are by the way they post. I'm caucasian. I already said I was, but you don't know if she's caucasian.
Simmer down!! Your opinions and thoughts are welcomed here with open arms but you're getting close to posting racist and judgemental comments.
And the whole love scene between Takeshi amd Zhang in HOFD: it was subtle. I enjoy a rather hot steamy "much more than love" scene in movies now and then but subtle love making is nice once in a while.
Don't get me wrong. I abhor the fact that many people base his sexuality (and other Asians) based solely on their looks. No one knows for sure who's attracted to which sex so people who jump to that conclusion need a dose of reality.

"Whoa, Asian Female. You're treading on thin ice. You're almost posting racist comments."
Miss Carlos, I couldn't agree with you more.
Asian Female, you are supposed to be an academic. In such a setting are you not supposed to be open to dialogue and differences of opinions? If you disagree with someone, there are more positive and constructive ways of arguing your position rather than casting aspersions. Is this how you deal with students who may challenge or not share your perspective? Are they simply to regurgitate your viewpoints in order to get through the course?
Please keep an open mind and not read more into what has been written. There are lots of interesting discourses/debates taking place on this forum so let's maintain a level of respect for others.

I think its great that he was seen at a "gigolo bar". I'm a straight chick, but sometime in my life, I'm going to a "gentlemen's club" (I've heard they are fun).
What is a gigolo bar...is it the same as a male strip club?

What is a gigolo bar...is it the same as a male strip club? Hello, Bouncy. Nice of you to drop by! A gigolo bar--hmm-mm --based on the 2 meanings of 'gigolo' in the dictionary--as follows: 1. A man who has a continuing sexual relationship with and receives financial support from a woman. 2. A man who is hired as an escort or a dancing partner for a woman So--since Mr. Kaneshiro is neither one of the above --I suppose he just wanted to check out the bar scene--see what's going on in one of those so-called 'highly disreputable' places--where probably the who's who in the entertainment industry hang out. As far as it being a 'male strip club'--don't think so--more probably a place where one can 'socialize' with men of the no. 2(dictionary meaning) persuasion.

Alright y'all, it's about time for me to step in and explain what is an Asian "gigalo club" since this discussion has been going on and on without knowing exactly what the "gigalo club" is all about!
It's not exactly a "male strip club", the guys don't strip for you. You get good-looking guys to sit with you (either in a private room or out in the main room with other guests) to sing kareoke, drink, chat... they could also dance for you or do anything to make you (the customer) happy. Of course, the guys will act "extremely friendly" and "submissive" around you...
In strip clubs (at least the ones in the States), the customers aren't allowed to touch the stripers. Basically you go pay someone to strip down naked for your viewing pleasure, that's it. But in Asian "gigalo club" (or vise versa), you're paying someone to actually sit down with you to drink, talk or whatnot... you're allowed to touch him/her and to a certain level of intimacy (NOT sexual intercourse though) AND if you like the guy or girl who serves you, you can pay them to go out with you under mutual agreement (from this point, you don't pay the club, you pay directly to the gigalo by buying him expensive gifts, dinners, etc). Again, "under mutual agreement", there can be a sexual relationship invovled.
Those of you who'd purchased the SMAP show from me, the second part of the show is a skit with Takuya Kimura and Goro (forgot his last name.. sorry) in a restuarant/private club type of place. Now that's a Japanese "gigalo club" and they were playing "gigalos". Their job was to make the customers happy and make them order expensive booze, fruit basket from the club 'cause that's how they make money (for the club, not talking about their possible side-agreement to sleep with the customers).
I hope the description of the "gigalo club" is clear enough! Don't ask me how come I know so much... I just know! lol. (this is a common knowledge a 21-year-old should know.. for me anyways : ___________________________________________________________________ To Asian female: This is the webmaster of the Takeshi website and administator of this forum speaking. Interesting... Is this a new fad- "gigolo clubs". Is the ideal of it similar to male strips clubs in that you can get any man to strip for you if you want, but if you go to a strip club, the quality of man is a little better, (plus you can get drunk with your friends)? Now I'm completely fascinated by this ideal Ha! (I have completely digressed from the topic...sorry)

Dear Everybody, obviously there are so many of you out there who are relatively new Fans of Takeshi. Takeshi was known to have had a few girlfriends. The most well-publicised one was in the early 90s during the earlier part of his career, with a really stunning beauty by the name of Judy Lin Ye-Ting. Judy was a singer in Taiwan but also doubled-up as an image consultant to many celebrities. She has 2 cd albums to her name. Young as she may look for her age, Judy was actually much older than Takeshi, I think she was 29 then and Takeshi 19 going on 20. The media was giving them so much stress on the relationship so they were denying it most of the time. Later, Judy went on to marry another older and very not so-handsome singer. By this time, Takeshi was already spending most times outside Taiwan. These were apparently published in early newspapers and fan mags. Interviews with these mags also hinted that Takeshi somehow preferred the more matured female. Later on, I think there were so other rumors about Takeshi having an actress girlfriend in Japan although I cannot recall her name, dun think she is one of the more popular ones...but anyway...In Asia, lots of male celebs especially, keep their relationships/ marriage etc very secretive, to avoid troubles etc. Alan Tam (HK pop idol) was only found out to be happily married with kids when his kids were about 8 years old! If any of u had access to or manage to buy any of those vintage magazines with interviews with Takeshi Kaneshiro, u will find that up to 1/3rd of these had interviews on his dream girl/ idol etc. Those early interviews usually focussed more on his life etc than the recent ones which are so commercialised and focus mainly on movies, products etc. I don't come by often but I have been a following fan for years since his debut, so I know. And I have met Takeshi personally as well. It will be perhaps comforting to know that 90% fans that follow him around during events etc are females. (I have seen some handsome stud celebrities where there are like 60% male fans in attendances in public events...I won't drop names but I will leave u to imagine the rest...). Just to share some of what I know about Takeshi to the rest of u...

You, of course, know what this means folks....Takeshi could already have a wife and kids! ;D
I always noticed that about Asian male celebs. Very reminiscent of old Hollywood where the stars' personal lives where highly guarded.
