MissCarlos - does Blade Warriors count as a Takeshi title? I guess not huh? Unlike the Onimusha games which Takeshi actually modeled for, Blade Warrior only used his likeness. My brother is playing it right now. It's funny to see "Takeshi" running around the tv screen slashing people with his mighty sword!

If he's Sammy's voice in the Japanese version, then Blade Warriors counts.

I wish that there was an option to play Demon Siege in Japanese (like Warlords). I do not enjoy Robin Atkins Downes as Sammy in the English version (he's also Sammy in Blade Warriors). Canadian Tig Fong (Sammy in Warlords) is better.

Yes, I know where in the movie they would be extracting Mei's blood, but WHY??( I'm sorry, I'm a nurse and the logical side of me is showing...I mean why would they want to extract blood when the best thing to do is leave the knife intact until it can be surgically removed. The knife is acting with a tamponade-like effect and keeps her from losing more blood. ) Can any one shed any light on this?

Tatiana - Now I'm confuse. Are you refering to the deleted scenes from the American version of HOFD? When they "extracted" blood I think it means that they digitally removed the blood from the movie so that it does not look like mei is bleeding or at least not bleeding a lot.

Most Asian movies that are imported and shown in American theaters are often cut. They often cut out scenes with blood in them or digitally remove the image of blood.

This confuses me because Hollywood can get away with even more violence and sex, yet Asian films do not get much leniency in American theaters. If you are a dvd freak like me then you would know that Hollywood often treats Asian films unjustly by censoring them.

I must be lucky, then. The French translation is violent. Blood everywhere (not in the literal sense) but there was a lot of blood, espcially at the end where Jin was yelling at Mei not to remove the knife or else she'll die.

Hi Samanosuke - because of your recommendations I have added "Oldboy" and "Warm Water Under a Red Bridge" to my Netflix list. I'm sorry that I can't watch "Taegukgi" though, I do not like war movies and I read that it is more gorey than "Saving Private Ryan". I know you really like this movie - maybe someday. I'm wondering why those box sets are so expensive? Are they rare or something? Will they increase in value as time passes? Again I am curious and interested. Thanks

I guess I'm happy with my version of HOFD. I don't think I want the image of darling TK slitting someone's throat or a very bloody Mei - both would definitely detract from the romantic vision I have in my brain. Although I wouldn't mind seeing Jin holding the wounded Mei in his arms.

I found what Samanosuke said about the differing standards in terms of violence and goryiness between Asian and Hollywood films very interesting.. why should that be? It doesn't make too much sense to me.

I have the UK edition of HOFD and it came uncut with all the parts that Samanosuke described as being cut from the U.S edition intact. I haven't seen any other versions so i'm not sure if anything else has been cut from my version but i'm pretty sure it's the full uncut film (It also came in a boxset with extras like a 'Making Of' documentary and some free & v lovely and evocotive postcards - yey!). I'm not usually one for violence in movies but for me these US deleted scenes weren't too violent, and definately didn't detract from the romance and passion of the story - if anything it was artfully done and so actually heightened the raw emotions of the snow-fighting scene. Jin cradling Mei in his arms was so powerful - it was a really passionate crescendo to the film - i can't understand why they cut it out. My version sounds pretty similar to the French one MissCarlos mentioned.

Still - really fantastic and breathtaking movie whatever version you watch!
