Here, in Brasil, the theaters showed the complete HOFD version, with a lot of blood and the missing scene where Mei told Jin to look back. But, the DVD is equal to US. I'll order my DVD copy from amazon, so I'll get the complete version. Hey, I loved RETURNER. It's fun and didn't have that "heavy atmosphere" from THE MATRIX trilogy. In fact, I don't like MATRIX. It's sooooooooooo shallow. Believe me, I studied philosophy in college, and MATRIX didn't use it.

I've always been baffled why anyone would claim Returner is trying to rip off The Matrix. Outside of Miyamoto wearing a long black coat and sunglasses (which I don't think the Wachowski brothers patented), I don't see the link. And I don't think a scene where Miyamoto dodges bullets and the alien's force field stops a bullet makes this movie a Matrix wannabe either. Bottom line, ALL films get inspiration for storyline, dialogue, and even specific shots from many sources--novels, plays, and get this, sometimes OTHER MOVIES! Imagine that! Those who want to call Returner a retread of The Matrix obviously have not seen the movie. I have no problem with those who have provided honest criticism of Returner, but trying to conjure up reasons by calling this movie a Matrix knock off is just a cheap trick. Good point about The Matrix glaucia. I personally liked the movie, but because I didn't take it too seriously. Throw in enough cool special effects and fight scenes and I can be very forgiving when it comes to plot. My biggest problem was that the Wachowski brothers did think they were being philosophical by the time the 2nd movie rolled around. I was just confused by what the "Architect" was spouting (blah, blah, blah,), that I just tuned him out and started watching the images on the TV screens. I have yet to see the final installment, and I'm in no rush.

Ticktack, for what I am able to recall everything said by the Architect were nonsense. It just doesn't make any sense. In fact, my problem with THE MATRIX is: they relly tried to sell the movies as Philosophy. It's so borring. And RETURNER isn't a retread of MATRIX. And, I do believe the Wachowski brothers took a "few" ideas from asian cinema, especially wuxia movies. What do you think about it?

I think if you enjoy sci-fi movies, you'll like this one. Some people just can't suspend their brains enough to enjoy a sci-fi movie. It's a genre, just like horror, and not for everyone.
I enjoyed it. Sure, it rips off Terminator and several other movies big time, but it's fun. BTW, the company that did the special effects for Returner did the opening CG movie for Onimusha 3.

THE RETURNER WAS A QUITE GOOD AS A MOVIE... BUT TAKESHI'S ROLE-MIYAMOTO-THAT CHARACTER WAS COOL. JUST IMAGINE A GUY WITHOUT A SENCE OF HUMOR, NOT CARING OF ANYTHING EXEPT KILLING HIS VERY PERSONAL ENEMY-PLATYNO-HAIR MIZOGUCHI... AND THEN, THE MISTERIOUS GIRL NAMED MILLY CAME FROM THE SKY AND TURN HIS LIFE UPSIDE DOWN. THAT IS REALLY COOL... ;D

Dear Glaucia!!! Believe me or not, but if a man can cook (realy cook, not make a sandwitch!!!) will be qa perfect husband. I know that from "authopsy". Kitchen can be a very intime place to do many things (except cooking). I'm spending quite long time in my kitchen, and if I might spend this time with a person who can cook--> it's heaven on EARTH!!! R.E.S.P.E.C.T.

Article from 3/28/05 Sources: jaychow.net www.multistars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6691asianfanatics.net/forumTranslator: Ho Anne Suzuki likes Jay more than Takeshi Kaneshiro Japanese female star Anne Suzuki doesn’t know about all the fuss around the “Jay and Patty Relationship”, when she was talking about her collaboration with Jay in “Initial D” in Hong Kong, she was attracted by Jay’s talent and humour, even saying that comparing Takeshi Kaneshiro to Jay, she admires Jay even more. Three years ago Anne Suzuki collaborated with Takeshi Kaneshiro in “Returner”, last year she worked with Jay on “Initial D”, yesterday in the Hong Kong movie festival event she talked about the differences between Jay and Takeshi Kaneshiro. When Anne Suzuki was working with Takeshi Kaneshiro, she was only 14, she said Takeshi Kaneshiro took care of her a lot, but the feeling was like that of a brother; Jay and her age are similar and so they can identify with each other more. Actually she is only 17 this year, Jay is already 26. In the movie she and Jay have the pure love of high school students, holding hands walking, playing at the beach, etc… Anne Suzuki said that even though they talk in different languages, but privately he often does magic, be funny, making her happy incessantly. She is looking forward to working with Jay again. Originally she didn’t know who Jay was, until Jay gave her a copy of his CD and VCD. She said: “At the very start of working with Jay, I didn’t think he was unique but after listening to his CD and watching his MV, only then did I know he has a lot of talent!” Plus she has heard Jay’s “Ye Hui Mei” album, her impression of him is even deeper. When she told Jay that she especially liked “In The Name Of The Father” and “Third Year Second Class” in the “Ye Hui Mei” album, Jay cutely sang it live, making Anne Suzuki clap and applaud.

Yeah, Anne admitted Takeshi-san was more like a fun big brother to her while filming "The Returner". Say, has anyone heard about them making a sequel to "The Returner"? I read or heard it somewhere....forget where though. Any possibility of that?
